With a Personal Hotspot enabled, you can share your iPhone’s cellular data connection to other devices via Wi-Fi, Bluetooth or USB connection. It’s a handy feature when you don’t have access to a Wi-Fi network and you badly need to connect your other devices to the internet.
When activating Personal Hotspot, your iPhone must have a strong and stable cellular signal and ample battery life.
Internet sharing with Hotspot can be done via Wi-Fi, Bluetooth or USB connection. You will be asked to specify your preferred connection method beforehand.
Steps to Set Up Hotspot on iPhone 13 in iOS 15.5
The process of setting up a Personal Hotspot connection on an iPhone is fairly simple. Just be sure that Personal Hotspot is enabled by your carrier and that your wireless plan supports it.
Once you’ve got everything set, you may go ahead and proceed with these steps
Step 1: To begin, open the Settings app. Just tap on the Gear icon from the Home screen or App Library of your iPhone to launch the app.
Step 2: Next, you will need to enable your iPhone’s cellular data feature. To do this, simply tap Cellular from the settings menu and then toggle to turn then Cellular Data switch ON.
Step 3: Cellular data features will be activated with cellular data enabled on the phone. To continue, find and then tap Personal Hotspot.
Step 4: On the succeeding menu, you will see Hotspot options. To allow others to connect to your iPhone’s internet via Hotspot, tap to enable the Allow Others to Join option. Just toggle to turn the switch ON.
Step 5: To make your Hotspot connection secure, you can put a password on it. To do so, simply tap Wi-Fi Password then enter a unique password for your personal hotspot connection.
Every device that connects to your Personal Hotspot will then be required to enter the correct password.
Quick Notes:
You may be asked to turn Wi-Fi on to make your Hotspot available over Bluetooth, USB and Wi-Fi connection. If you’d like to share your connection via USB tethering, choose USB only. This will make your Hotspot available over USB only. This setup is recommended when sharing Hotspot with a computer like MacBook, Mac, Windows or Chromebook.
Step 6: After setting up all necessary information for your Personal Hotspot connection, tap Done.
The Personal Hotspot network will then be created. Just wait for everything to finish and after that you should be all set to share your phone’s internet connection to your other devices. Again, be sure to enter the correct personal hotspot password on your other devices to connect to the iPhone’s personal hotspot successfully.
Activating Personal Hotspot on an iPhone may take a few seconds or minutes. For as long as your data subscription is good, everything should work as intended as soon as the Hotspot setup is completed.
How to Connect to your iPhone Hotspot?
Connecting to a personal hotspot is similar to that when connecting your device to a Wi-Fi network.
Just find the iPhone’s Hotspot name from the list of available networks, tap on it then enter the correct Hotspot password to join.
Make sure that your devices are close to each other or within the designated range to avoid any connection disruptions. Proximity between devices may vary depending on which sharing option you choose while setting up the Hotspot. This however isn’t applicable when you opted for USB only (wired) connection.
Also ensure that your iPhone is getting a decent cellular network signal to avoid bumping into some connectivity issues while using the Hotspot connection.
To allow switching between 5GHz to 2.4GHz network, be sure to enable the option to Maximize Compatibility. This feature is available on iPhone 12 and newer models.
