How to setup your Email or Add Account on your iPhone 7

There are usually two types of email services you can use; free email service like Google’s Gmail, iCloud, YahooMail, Mail, etc. and corporate email which is provided by your company or service provider.

If you were to use the free email service, you don’t usually need all the server settings. As long as you know your correct username and password, you can set it up on your phone without much of a trouble since the device itself will fill up all necessary fields with known settings. In other words, it’s kind of automatic setup. Here’s how…

  1. To get started, tap Settings from the Home screen.
  2. On the Settings screen, scroll to and then tap to select Mail from the given options.
  3. Tap Accounts to continue.
  4. On the Accounts screen, tap Add Account. A list of email providers will then be displayed.
  5. Tap to select your Email Provider/Email account from the list. If your email provider is not shown in the list, tap Other and then select Add Mail Account. In this case, you will need to follow the onscreen instructions and provide all the required information to configure your account. Note: Please contact your email provider or carrier, if you don’t know your email settings. Otherwise, use the Mail Settings Lookup tools provided your respective carriers online.
  6. To continue with this demonstration, select Google.
  7. Enter your email address (Gmail account) on the given field and then select NEXT.
  8. If prompted, enter the correct password then select NEXT to proceed. Wait for Mail to verify your account.
  9. Set the account sync options or select the contents you want to sync. This section is optional.
  10. Tap Save to complete the process.

After this, messages will come rushing in.

How to manually setup your Email account on iPhone 7

As I said earlier, corporate email accounts need to be manually setup on any smartphone and by “manual” it means that you have to enter the incoming and outgoing server settings and their respective port numbers.

The same thing happens if you’re using the email account provider by your service provider, or if you’re using an account associated with any domain names. These accounts will come with server settings all the time. That said, here’s how you set one up…

  1. Go to Settings-> Mail-> Add Account-> Other-> Add Mail Account.
  2. Enter all the required information such as your email address and password along with the correct server settings.
