iPhone 11 Pro Max Keeps Disconnecting from Wi-Fi? Try These Fixes

If your iPhone 11 Pro Max keeps randomly disconnecting from Wi-Fi, especially after a software update or network change, it can be incredibly frustrating. The issue might be caused by anything from a software glitch to a router hiccup. Fortunately, there are several quick fixes that often solve the problem without needing a trip to the Genius Bar.

Here’s what to do if your iPhone 11 Pro Max keeps dropping its Wi-Fi connection.

1. Move Closer to the Router

Before anything else, check your distance from the Wi-Fi router. Weak signals often drop when you’re too far or if there are obstructions like walls or microwaves in the way. Try standing closer to the router to see if the connection becomes more stable.

2. Reboot Your Wi-Fi Router

Sometimes the issue isn’t with your phone, but with the router.

  1. Turn off your modem/router using the power switch.
  2. Unplug it from the power source and wait for 30 seconds.
  3. Plug it back in and turn it on.
  4. Wait until all indicator lights are stable.

Now try reconnecting your iPhone to Wi-Fi and see if the issue is gone.

3. Restart Your iPhone

A simple reboot clears temporary bugs and helps reset wireless connections.

  1. Press and hold the Side button and either Volume button.
  2. When the slider appears, drag it to turn off your iPhone.
  3. After about 30 seconds, press and hold the Side button again until the Apple logo appears.

4. Turn Wi-Fi Off and Back On

This quick trick often solves minor wireless bugs.

  1. Go to Settings > Wi-Fi.
  2. Toggle Wi-Fi off, wait a few seconds, then toggle it back on.
  3. Reconnect to your network and test the connection.

5. Use the Airplane Mode Trick

Toggling Airplane Mode resets all wireless radios at once.

  1. Go to Settings > Airplane Mode.
  2. Turn it on and leave it on for a few seconds.
  3. Restart your iPhone while Airplane Mode is still on.
  4. Once your phone boots up, go back to Settings and turn Airplane Mode off.
  5. Reconnect to Wi-Fi.

6. Forget and Reconnect to Your Wi-Fi Network

If the network settings are corrupted, reconnecting from scratch can help.

  1. Go to Settings > Wi-Fi.
  2. Tap the “i” icon next to your connected network.
  3. Tap Forget This Network > confirm.
  4. Restart your iPhone.
  5. Go back to Wi-Fi, select your network, and re-enter the password.

7. Reset Network Settings

This wipes out all network-related settings including saved Wi-Fi networks and VPNs.

  1. Open Settings > General > Transfer or Reset iPhone.
  2. Tap Reset > Reset Network Settings.
  3. Enter your passcode and confirm.

Your phone will reboot and you’ll need to reconnect to your Wi-Fi network manually.

8. Check for Carrier Settings Update

Sometimes, an outdated carrier config can mess with Wi-Fi behavior.

  1. Go to Settings > General > About.
  2. Wait a few seconds — if a carrier update is available, you’ll get a pop-up to install it.

9. Install the Latest iOS Update

If you’re running an older iOS version, Wi-Fi instability may already be a known issue.

  1. Go to Settings > General > Software Update.
  2. If an update is available, tap Download and Install.

10. Factory Reset (Only If Nothing Else Works)

This is your last resort. It erases all data and restores your iPhone to factory settings.

  1. Go to Settings > General > Transfer or Reset iPhone.
  2. Tap Erase All Content and Settings.
  3. Follow the prompts to confirm.

After the reset, set up your iPhone as new (or restore from backup) and see if Wi-Fi works normally.

Bonus Tip: Call Your Internet Provider

If multiple devices are having Wi-Fi issues or your iPhone is the only one acting up on one specific network, your ISP might need to refresh your network or push a router update remotely.
