Apple has announced its latest “Shot on iPhone” challenge, and the stakes are significantly higher this time around. The company is urging iPhone 11 owners to send their best “Night Mode” photos. In return, the company will pick 5 best pictures and also pay licensing fees for the use of their pictures. Previous Shot on iPhone contests did not compensate photographers for their pictures, but it seems like Apple has finally come around to fixing that.
As for this new challenge, in addition to appearing on the company’s Instagram page, the top 5 photos may also be displayed on Apple’s ad campaigns across the globe. This is definitely a win-win situation for everyone involved, so we’re sure there aren’t going to be any controversies over this year’s campaign.
Apple says the entries will be “judged by a panel of judges who are qualified and who have relevant expertise and experience relating to photography.” Interested photographers are requested to read Apple’s official rules for this campaign here.
So that there’s no ambiguity, Apple mentions that pictures taken from the iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro, and the iPhone 11 Pro Max will be eligible for this contest. Customers will have until 11:59 PM (Pacific Time) on January 29 to submit their entries.
Entering the contest is fairly easy as all you have to do is use the hashtags #ShotoniPhone and #NightmodeChallenge on Twitter or Instagram with your photo. This, in return, will serve as excellent marketing for prospective buyers of the iPhone 11 lineup, particularly the iPhone 11 Pro and the 11 Pro Max which feature a triple-camera setup capable of excellent pictures and videos.
