Rumor Claims Upcoming 6.7-Inch iPhone 12 Will Be Thinner Than the iPhone 11 Pro Max

Contradicting previous reports that spoke about Apple using a completely redesigned chassis with the upcoming iPhone 12 lineup, a new report by Macotakara mentions that Apple will retain the same chassis as the iPhone 11 with only the camera arrangement reportedly going to be different.

The report also shed some light on the size differences between the new flagships while reiterating that there will be a 5.4-inch, 6.1-inch, and a 6.7-inch iPhone launching this year, with the largest model reportedly being thinner at 7.4mm compared to the iPhone 11 Pro Max (8.1mm). This model will also be slightly taller, the report said.

The source goes on to add that the 6.7-inch iPhone 12 will also have a bigger rear camera sensor compared to the iPhone 11 Pro Max, hinting at significant camera improvements. Rumors so far have mentioned that Apple is looking to use a time-of-flight sensor with the iPhone 12 lineup.

In total, Apple is expected to launch four iPhones this year with 5.4-inch and 6.1-inch models catering to the entry-level segment while the company will also have high-end iPhones with 6.1-inch and 6.7-inch displays respectively.

Renowned analyst Ming-Chi Kuo previously mentioned that Apple will use an iPhone 4-like design for the 2020 lineup. While both sources have been right on multiple occasions in the past, we recommend taking any information with a grain of salt given that there’s still some time left before Apple unveils its flagships.

Meanwhile, multiple rumors have also talked about the arrival of “iPhone 9” by as early as March this year. This is expected to bring back the home button as well as Touch ID in lieu of Face ID.
