iOS 13.1 Update Not Showing on Your iPhone? Here’s How to Fix It

If you were expecting the iOS 13.1 update to appear on your iPhone but nothing’s showing up in Settings, don’t worry — you’re not the only one. Sometimes Apple’s updates don’t roll out immediately to all users, or your iPhone might be missing the update due to network issues, compatibility problems, or a simple glitch.

Here’s what to do if iOS 13.1 isn’t showing up on your iPhone.

1. Check iPhone Compatibility

Before anything else, make sure your iPhone supports iOS 13.1.

✅ iOS 13.1 is compatible with:

  • iPhone 6s and later
  • iPhone SE (1st gen)
  • iPhone 7, 8, X, XR, XS, XS Max, 11, etc.

❌ Not compatible:

  • iPhone 6 and 6 Plus
  • iPhone 5s and earlier

If your device isn’t on the list, that’s why the update isn’t showing.

2. Restart Your iPhone

Sometimes all it takes is a simple reboot to trigger the update check again.

To restart:

  • Press and hold the Side (Sleep/Wake) button.
  • Slide to power off.
  • Wait 30 seconds, then press and hold the button again until the Apple logo appears.

Now go to Settings > General > Software Update and see if it shows up.

3. Check and Refresh Your Network Connection

Updates require a stable internet connection.

  • Make sure your iPhone is connected to Wi-Fi, not cellular.
  • Try toggling Airplane Mode ON, wait 10 seconds, then turn it OFF.
  • Open Safari and try browsing to confirm the connection.

4. Reset Network Settings

If you’re connected but still not seeing the update, a network reset can help clear out connection glitches.

To reset:

  • Go to Settings > General > Reset.
  • Tap Reset Network Settings.
  • Enter your passcode and confirm.

Note: This will erase saved Wi-Fi networks and passwords.

After resetting, reconnect to Wi-Fi and check for the update again in Settings > General > Software Update.

Still Not Seeing iOS 13.1?

If your iPhone is compatible, connected, and still not showing the update:

  • Apple’s servers may be overwhelmed (common on release day).
  • Try again later, or use iTunes or Finder on a computer to check for the update manually.
  • Go to Settings > General > About and check your current iOS version — you may already have 13.1 installed.
