Problem: iPhone 8 Plus won’t connect to home wifi

My iPhone 6s started started not working on my home wifi, even though the wifi was connected to my phone. No apps were loading nor was safari. I went to the apple store to sort this out and nothing worked. ( Keep im mind, when ever I left home and connected to other wifi my phone worked like a dream.) So I switched to an iPhone 8 plus and I could have bet that I was not going to have this same problem.. but to my surprise it happened again. Im having the same exact issue and ive already contacted my wifi carrier and everything possible was done, Ive restarted my phone, restarted networks and nothing worked. I don’t know what else to do.

Solution: There’s a number of possible causes for this problem. Learn how to troubleshoot this issue below.

Verify if device can connect to another wifi

Your first troubleshooting step is to check whether your iPhone’s wifi functionality is working or not. To do that, you want to connect it another wifi network. Visit a neighbor or your local cafe and see if wifi internet connection works on your phone. If it does work on a second network, proceed to the troubleshooting steps below.

Forget the network

This is a basic troubleshooting step when dealing with wifi problems. What it does is disconnect your device from the network, which also refreshes the connection. To forget a wifi network:

  1. Open Settings app.
  2. Tap Wifi.
  3. Tap on your network.
  4. Tap Forget This Network.
  5. Tap Forget to confirm.
  6. Restart your iPhone 8 Plus.
  7. Connect to your wifi network again.

Reset network settings

Performing this reset is usually needed when dealing with network-related issues on iPhones. It resolves pertinent issues such as calling problems, Wi-Fi connection errors, and signal issues to name some. Even Bluetooth connectivity issues in iOS devices are dealt with by resetting the network settings.

Here’s how it’s done:

  1. Tap on Settings from the Home screen.
  2. Next, tap General.
  3. Scroll down to and then tap Reset to continue.
  4. Select the option to Reset Network Settings.
  5. If prompted, enter the correct passcode for your device.
  6. Then tap the option to confirm network settings reset.

Uninstall apps

If this problem started after you installed an app, then might be the culprit. Take it out of the system by uninstalling it. Unlike Android devices, you can’t boot your device to safe mode, which makes it easier to know if a downloaded app is interfering with the operating system. If you can’t think of an app you installed that might cause this problem, simply skip this suggestion.

Reset all settings

Deleting the current software configuration or settings sometimes help in fixing network bugs. Make sure to reset all settings of the device by following the steps below.

  1. Go to the Home screen then tap Settings.
  2. Tap on General.
  3. Scroll down to and then tap on Reset.
  4. Tap to choose the option to Reset all settings.
  5. Enter your device passcode when asked to continue.
  6. Then tap the option to confirm all settings reset.

Factory reset

Should all the suggestions above won’t help, you must return all software settings to their default, clear all apps, and remove your personal data. To factory reset your iPhone 8 Plus:

  1. Tap to open the Settings app from Home.
  2. Tap on General.
  3. Scroll down to and then tap on Reset.
  4. Select the option to Erase all content and settings. This will master reset your iPhone XR.
  5. If prompted, enter your device passcode to continue.
  6. Then tap the option to confirm factory reset.
  7. Set the phone as a new device and check if wifi works.

IMPORTANT: Remember, factory reset will erase your files. Back them up before wiping the phone.
