How To Watch Movies Offline Without Internet On iPhone XS

If you’re planning on travelling anytime soon, whether on an airplane or as a passenger in a vehicle, you might be wondering how you can occupy your time until you reach your destination, especially if you experience interruptions in cell service based on your current location. Well, the good news is that there are many movies that can be downloaded for offline viewing, it all just depends on the provider that you got the movie or TV series from!

If you follow along below, we’ll show you the how you can watch movies and TV shows offline without Internet on iPhone XS. Here’s how.

Netflix

Yes, if you weren’t aware, you can actually download some of your favorite Netflix TV shows and movies for watching offline and without Internet. All you need to do is make sure that you have the app on your iPhone XS, as well as that your subscription tier supports offline viewing. Once you’ve checked all of those boxes, you can open the Netflix app on your iPhone XS, and press the download (downward arrow symbol) button to download your favorite content for offline viewing.

If that download for offline viewing button isn’t available, there is good reason for that. And that’s because Netflix says there’s only select movies and TV shows that will have that option; however, don’t let that worry you, as there’s a ton of content that does have that option.

iTunes

iTunes also supports offline viewing for movies and TV shows! You can either rent a movie or buy a digital movie from the iTunes Store from your iPhone XS, and then press the button to download for offline viewing. Make sure it’s fully downloaded before you start playing the movie.

Now, with iTunes, you do have to act relatively fast. This is because, in order to prevent piracy with these movies, Apple attaches a 48-hour timer to movies you download for offline viewing. That said, once the download completes, that 48-hour timers starts whether you start watching the movie or not — so make sure that you’re going to be watching the movie you download for offline viewing in a relatively timely manner.

Google Play Movies

One of our favorite options for watching movies and TV shows offline is Google Play Movies. Google Play Movies has a lot going for it, and for a lot of different reasons. The major reason is that you can download movies and TV shows for offline viewing for an unlimited amount of time. Want to take the latest Game of Thrones season with you on the go, but won’t have access to Internet? That’s not a problem! You can download entire seasons of TV shows and watch them offline when you get around to it. The same goes for movies; however, keep in mind that when you rent a movie, it might disappear off of your downloaded list. This is because the rental expired, not that the download expired. However, in most cases, you should be OK because Google Play rentals generally last up to thirty days without watching it.

The other reason why Google Play Movies is so great for offline viewing is because Google regularly runs sales on movies and TV shows. You can usually snag a movie or season of Game of Thrones for a whole lot cheaper than you would get it in the store.

Amazon Video

Another great place that you can download movies and TV shows for offline use is through Amazon Video. You will need either an Amazon Prime subscription or a subscription to Amazon Video directly. Once you do, downloading a movie or TV show is as simple as opening the selected movie or TV show, and then under the Video Details section, just press Download.

Don’t forget your digital copies!

We should also remind you not to forget your digital copies movies! If you’ve ever bought a blu-ray disc or DVD, chances are, it came with a digital copy that you could redeem. Those can be downloaded from offline viewing rather easily. Just make sure you go log into the service that the license or redemption code is associated with, and then follow the instructions for downloading it on your iPhone XS.

Verdict

As you can see, there are a lot of great ways that you can download movies and TV shows for offline viewing. And with Google Play Movies specifically, you won’t have a timer counting down until your download disappears! Do you have a favorite way to download media for offline viewing?
