Below are specific topics we’re bringing for you today:

Problem #1: How to fix iPhone X group text messaging issue: messages are delayed or won’t come at all

Yesterday, I was receiving group texts just fine, with a mix of iPhone and Android users, on both my iPhone X and MacBook. Today, not so much. I have 3 different convos going on, and they each have a unique problem.

Ex 1: 1 Android on AT&T and 5 iOS [2 AT&T, 2 Sprint, and 1 T-Mobile (me)]: I would receive texts from the 2 Sprint iPhone users in real time, and everyone else would come in different spurts hours later.

Ex 2: 2 iPhone on AT&T, my phone, and 1 Android on AT&T: Received 1 iPhone and the Android in real life, but didn’t receive texts from the other iPhone, WHO HAPPENS TO BE ON THE SAME CARRIER AND IN THE SAME HOUSE AS THE OTHER IPHONE USER!!

Ex 3: 3 Androids (not sure the carriers) and my iPhone on T-Mobile: I received all their texts in real time!   This is getting so frustrating and I’ve spent so much time researching and on the phone with T-Mobile and Apple with no solution. Oddly enough, I am also not receiving these missing texts on my MacBook. I don’t mean to sound snarky, but yes, I’ve done a hard reset, deleted the threads and started new ones, turned off and on Set Automatically Time, have the latest iOS, and Reset Network Settings. I’m traveling next week and would REALLY love a solution! HELPPP!

Solution: Group text messaging, especially if it involves different platforms and carriers, may sometimes not work as expected. The most likely reason for your problem is a factor outside the device so the usual troubleshooting won’t help at all. Each carrier has its own network system so sending and receiving between multiple networks may sometimes not work as planned at all. If your network operator can’t help you with the issue, or can’t identify where the trouble lies, there’s nothing much that you can do either.

If your group has an important subject to discuss each time and you can’t afford to miss conversations, we suggest that you skip traditional group messaging via carrier networks. Instead, we suggest that you use apps that work across platforms like Facebook Messenger, Viber, or Slack, or similar apps.

Problem #2: What to do if iPhone X speaker not working during calls

I am using Apple iPhone X. When I am making call I am not able to listen to the other person but other person can hear me clearly. The problem persists even while audio calling through whatsapp. I always have to use speaker mode to talk while on call. There is no sound in ear piece. My iPhone ‘s earphone jack is also not working. Even when I got new earphones I couldn’t use them. All these problems have started since I have updated my iOS software to the latest one. I have even tried using a Bluetooth wireless headphone ? but still I don’t hear the voice while making the call and the other person can hear me clearly. But Bluetooth headphones are working when I make calls through WhatsApp. Please help regarding both-my earpiece voice and earphone jack.

Solution: The first troubleshooting step that you can try is to reset all settings of your device. Here’s how it’s done:

  1. Tap Settings from the Home screen.
  2. Tap General.
  3. Scroll to and tap Reset.
  4. Select Reset All Settings from the given options.
  5. If prompted, enter your passcode to continue.

Reboot your iPhone when the reset is finished and then configure options and settings based on your previous preferences, prior to the onset of the problem. This reset won’t affect any information saved on the internal memory, thus won’t result to data loss.

Check if speaker is working

Another simple troubleshooting step to check if the speaker is working is by recording your voice and listening to it. Here’s what you need to do:

  1. Find the Voice Memos app and open it.
  2. Tap the record button to let your iPhone’s microphone capture any sound. We suggest that you try to record your voice as if you’re simulating a call.
  3. When done recording, tap the red record button again.
  4. Tap Done.
  5. Name the recorded sound with anything you like. If there no sound when playing the recorded file, you have a hardware issue. In this case, contact Apple so they can repair your device.

Factory reset

In case the problem is due to an operating system bug, try to wipe your phone and see what happens. Here’s how:

  1. Open Settings app.
  2. Tap General.
  3. Tap Reset.
  4. Tap Erase All Content and Settings.
  5. If prompted, enter your passcode.
  6. Tap Erase iPhone.

Problem #3: iPhone X wifi will not turn on, microphone not working

The button that you slide to turn WiFi on in the settings will NOT let me turn it on at all. Yesterday it automatically kicked me off of WiFi without doing anything and now when I try to get back on it won’t even let the WiFi on/off button work! It is an IPhone X.

Also, the microphone on my phone stopped working a week ago. When I record movies it recorded NO SOUND. When I get or make a call I can’t hear them and they can’t hear me. When I go into the voice memos app the button to record does not even turn red to let me record. Thank you for any help you can give.

Solution: There may be an operating system issue that causes all these issues. Try to restore your phone’s software to their previous state using a previously saved backup. Here’s how:

  1. Create a backup of your files. You can do that in a number of ways but the fastest and most effective way is by using iTunes in your PC or Mac. If you don’t want to create a backup at all, you can simply erase everything on the phone by following the steps in this link.
  2. Connect your iPhone to your computer with the cable that came with your phone.
  3. We assume you remember your phone’s passcode so simply enter it when you’re prompted for it.
  4. Select your iPhone once iTunes asks you for the specific device.
  5. Once you’re in the Summary panel or screen, select the option that will restore your device (Restore).
  6. Confirm by clicking on Restore button.
  7. Wait for a few moments while iTunes restores your device to its factory settings. It may also take some time if iTunes will need to install an updated operating system version.
  8. After the restore, all software settings should be restored to their defaults.

Get Apple support

If the problems continues after your restore from an old backup or setting up as a new device, the problem is most probably beyond your ability to fix. Make sure to visit your local Apple Service center so they can physically examine the phone.
