How to unlock an iPhone with “iPhone is disabled. Connect to iTunes” error

How to restore your iOS device via iTunes
iTunes can be installed in either Windows or Mac machines so the first thing to do is to ensure that iTunes is properly installed. If you haven’t updated it lately, make sure to check for updates first to minimize possible errors during the restore process. Once iTunes is ready, proceed to the steps below:
- Connect your iPhone to your computer you usually synced with.
- Open iTunes in your computer and wait for iTunes to sync your device and make a backup.
- Once you’ve synced your phone and created a backup, click Restore [your device].
- When you reach the Set Up screen while restoring your iOS device, tap Restore from iTunes backup.
- Select your device in iTunes. Look at the date and size of each backup and pick the most relevant one.
If you’re trying to sync your device to this computer for the first time, or you don’t have access to the computer you usually sync your iPhone with, you’re out of luck. You’ll have to completely wipe your phone via Recovery Mode. Here’s how it’s done:
- Connect your iOS device to your computer and open iTunes.
- Initiate Recovery Mode in your device.

- Once you’re in Restore or Update screen, pick Restore.
- Wait for iTunes to download a new operating system to your device. If this process takes longer than 15 minutes, your iPhone may restart. If this happens, do the steps 1 and 2 again.
- Set your device up again.
How to restore your iOS device via iCloud
Restoring your iPhone thru iCloud is a bit more complicated than the steps above. It also requires that your disabled iPhone has internet connection, and that you’ve set up Find My iPhone previously. You also need to have a computer in order to access Find My iPhone website. Once these important things are in place, your can then proceed to do the steps below:
- In your computer, open your favorite browser and open icloud.com.
- Once you’ve opened icloud.com, click on Find iPhone.
- Enter the password for your Apple account. Make sure that this is the same Apple account logged in your iPhone.
- Wait for a map to appear displaying the location of your device.
- Click All Devices at the top.
- Select the iPhone you want to wipe, then click Erase iPhone.
- If successful, you can then set your iPhone up again as a new device.
