What to do if you cannot set up email account on your iPhone 7?
Before you begin to troubleshoot, make sure that your iPhone is connect to the Internet for it to be able to sync with the email server. You will likely end up having errors in the email setup if your iPhone is not connected. If you still couldn’t complete the email setup even if your iPhone is connected, then try the following workarounds.
Login to your webmail account.
To make sure that the account information you’ve entered during the email setup is correct, try to log into the same email account through webmail.
To do so, head over to your webmail site (URL) then enter your email account credentials to sign in.
If you are able to log into the same email through webmail, go back to your iPhone and set up your email manually. At this point, type in the email account and password on their designated fields. If you see any encrypted entries especially in the password field, delete it and enter the current password for your email account.
Reset your password.
You may opt to reset your password if you cannot log into your email account through webmail. Usually, you will just have to enter the username then click the link to reset/forget password. A password reset can only be done through webmail as there is no option to do so on your iPhone 7. Apple must have assumed that you already managed your email account through webmail and so all you have to do is sync emails on your iPhone through the Mail app or other iOS email services you are using on your device. After you reset the password in webmail, go back to your iPhone and set up your email account manually again. Be sure to enter the new or updated password for your email account.
Verify and ensure the server settings are correct.
Other important details that you need to verify if correct are the server settings. Typically, everything is supposed to be entered correctly when you opt for automatic email account setup on your iPhone. To ensure that the server settings are correct, check your email account settings. Here’s how:
- Tap Settings.
- Select Accounts & Passwords.
- Tap on the email account you want to configure.
- Edit the incoming and outgoing server information or other critical options and then select Done when you’re finished.
- In other iPhone variants, you may need to go to the Advanced section to access and edit the incoming and outgoing server settings.
- Restart your iPhone then see if your email is working.
If you are not sure of what information to enter for your incoming server, outgoing server, port numbers, and so on, contact your email service provider for further assistance. Switch to a different SMTP port.
If you see are prompted with an error message regarding invalid port number or similar message, try a different port number. - Enter alternate port numbers like 465, 80, 3535, or 25.
After changing the port number, open the Mail app and then try to see if you are now able to send emails using the email account.
Reset your iPhone 7 (optional).

And a full system reset could be the key to wiping these errors out completely. But also note that a factory reset will likewise result to data loss.
