The first thing you need to do is to isolate the charging cable as this causes the problem is some cases. Replace the charging cable with a new one then connect the phone to a different USB port in the computer.

Next, visually inspect the charging port of your phone for any signs of dirt or lint. If you spot any then clean it using compressed air or cotton dipped in alcohol.

If the problem still persists at this point then the most likely cause (99% of the time) is a defective cable that connects your phone Touch ID scanner to the motherboard. This cable usually gets damaged if your phone has a history of repairs such as getting a screen replacement or charging port. When your phone was opened for repair the technician may have accidentally damaged the cable. This is the reason why the restore process does not complete.

To repair this you need to bring your phone to an authorized service center and have the cable replaced.
