How to troubleshoot iPhone 8 with Pandora app that keeps crashing
Before you troubleshoot the Pandora app, try to troubleshoot your Wi-Fi Internet first. Online apps like Pandora Music won’t work or load properly if your phone is having Internet connection errors like Internet drops or no Internet access at all.
To rule this out, you can try turning Wi-Fi off and then back on to refresh the Wi-Fi internet connection on your phone and fix minor software issues affecting the Wi-Fi network.
- To do so, head over to Settings-> Wi-Fi menu, and then tap the switch next to Wi-Fi to turn it off for a few seconds and then tap to turn it back on.
- Alternatively, you can try connecting to a different Wi-Fi network on your device. If the Pandora app works on another Wi-Fi network, then the problem is likely caused by your previous Wi-Fi network and not your device.
If none of that works, then you can perform a network settings reset on your iPhone 8 instead. Doing so will erase every network information including Wi-Fi networks, Bluetooth, and VPN settings set up and stored on your phone, then restore the defaults. Before you do so, take note of your Wi-Fi passwords because you need to re-enter them later when you set up your Wi-Fi networks again.
- To reset network settings on your iPhone 8, go to Settings-> General-> Reset-> Reset Network Settings. If prompted, enter your device passcode to continue. Then tap to confirm Reset Network Settings.
After the network reset, your iPhone will restart automatically. Wait until it has finished booting up, set up and reconnect to your Wi-Fi network, then open Pandora app again.
If everything is good with your Internet connection but the Pandora app remains problematic, then continue to troubleshoot the app with these walkthroughs.
First solution: Force quit the app then restart your iPhone 8.
Forcing the app to quit helps clear any minor errors that caused it to stop working. Just like computer programs, mobile apps also encounter errors with which most can be resolved by restarting the application. To force quit the Pandora app on your iPhone 8, follow these steps:
- Press the Home button twice quickly. Doing so will open a new screen containing a list of all recently used apps. These apps are still open and running in the background.
- Find the Pandora app and then swipe up on it.
- You can also swipe up on any other background apps individually to clear them too.
After ending the app, perform a soft reset or simply restart your iPhone to clear its memory and refresh the operating system. Minor software glitches that might have caused conflict with the Pandora app will also be cleared in the process.
- To soft reset or restart your iPhone 8, just press the Power button for a few seconds until the Slide to Power off command appears. Drag the slider to turn off your device. Then after 30 seconds, press and hold the Power button until the Apple logo shows up on the screen.
Alternatively, you can do a force restart if your iPhone freezes as Pandora crashes. A force restart works the same as a soft reset but done using the hardware keys. Here’s how a force restart is done on an iPhone 8:
- Press and quickly release the Volume Up button.
- Then press and quickly release the Volume Down button.
- Finally, press and hold the Power/Side button until the Apple logo appears.
Neither methods affect your saved data in the internal memory, so you won’t lose any data in the process.
Wait for your iPhone to boot up completely then retry loading the Pandora app to see if the problem is fixed. If not, then move on to the next applicable solution.
Second solution: Update Pandora app to the latest version available.
App updates usually embeds security enhancements and bug fixes. Should the problem be triggered by some bugs, then updating the app will likely fix it. Follow these steps to check for available app update (s) to download and install, particularly for the Pandora app:
- Tap the App Store icon from the Home screen.
- While on the App Store main screen, tap the Updates icon at the bottom right. A list of apps with pending updates then populates.
- Tap Update next to Pandora to update the app.
- If multiple app updates are available, then you can tap the Update All button to install all app updates simultaneously.
Wait until all apps are successfully updated. To ensure everything works properly after the new update(s) implementation, reboot your iPhone 8 (soft reset).
Installing the latest iOS version for your iPhone can also help address software issues including those that are transpiring on the Pandora app. On the 29th of May this year, Apple has made an official announcement on the rollout of the next iOS platform — the iOS 11.4. The new update offers a number of improved features along with bug fixes and security improvements. Any software bugs that might have caused problems to your apps including Pandora will likely be rectified by this update.
- To check if the new iOS update is already available on your iPhone 8, navigate to Settings-> General-> Software Update menu.
Read and review the update requirements and details then follow the onscreen instructions to proceed with the update download and installation process.
Don’t forget to reboot your iPhone 8 after the update has been installed to ensure normal operations on your phone.
Third solution: Uninstall and reinstall the Pandora app.
The Pandora app might have been totally corrupted and is no longer fixable unless you’ll reinstall it. Uninstalling the app will delete the app’s settings, so any settings error will likewise be removed. When you reinstall the app, it will be like you are downloading the app for the first time.
- To uninstall the Pandora app on your iPhone 8, press and hold any icon from the Home screen. When the app icons start to wiggle, tap the X in the upper-left corner of the Pandora app icon.
- When you see the pop-up message that says, Delete Pandora?, tap Delete to confirm.
After you have successfully deleted/uninstalled the Pandora app, reboot your iPhone then follow these steps to reinstall the app:
- Open the App Store.
- While on the App Store main screen, tap the Search icon (magnifying glass).
- Navigate to the Search tab and then type Pandora in the search bar.
- Find and select the Pandora app from the search results.
- To download the app, tap Get and Install. You may need to enter your Apple ID password to authorize and confirm app download and installation.
Wait until the Pandora app is completely installed and then test to see if it is already working fine and steady.
