If your iPhone 6 Plus suddenly loses sound—whether it’s in apps, games, or notifications—you’re not alone. Even though the iPhone 6 Plus was one of Apple’s most powerful models when it launched, some users still run into audio problems. Here’s a full guide on how to troubleshoot and (hopefully) fix it.
iPhone 6 Plus No Sound in Apps Like YouTube Kids
The Issue:
You’re getting phone calls just fine (ringer works), but apps like YouTube Kids, games, and videos have no sound.
How to Fix It:
1. Check the Volume Buttons
- Open the app where you’re missing sound.
- Press the Volume Up button several times while the app is open.
2. Flip the Ring/Silent Switch
- Check the mute switch on the left side of your iPhone.
- If it’s flipped to silent (orange showing), flip it back toward the screen.
3. Check the Ports for Dirt or Accessories
- Make sure there’s nothing plugged into the headphone jack or Lightning port.
- Shine a light into the ports and clean out any dust or debris with compressed air or a soft brush.
4. Turn Off Bluetooth
- If your iPhone is connected to a Bluetooth device (like speakers or headphones), sound might be playing through that device.
- Go to Settings > Bluetooth and toggle it off.
5. Restart Your iPhone
- Hold the Power button and slide to turn off.
- Turn it back on and check if sound returns.
6. Update to the Latest iOS
- Go to Settings > General > Software Update and install any available updates.
7. Restore Your iPhone as New
If nothing else works:
- Back up your iPhone first using iCloud or iTunes.
- Then, erase your iPhone by going to Settings > General > Transfer or Reset iPhone > Erase All Content and Settings.
- Set it up as a new device (don’t restore from backup right away) and test the sound.
If the problem still sticks around after a factory restore, it’s time to reach out to Apple Support for help.
iPhone 6 Plus No Sound Only When at Home
The Issue:
Your phone’s sound works fine outside, but when you step inside your house, it mysteriously cuts out.
How to Fix It:
1. Turn Off Bluetooth
This sounds like your iPhone is automatically connecting to a Bluetooth speaker or device inside your house.
- Go to Settings > Bluetooth and toggle it off.
Once Bluetooth is off, the sound should stay on your phone, whether you’re inside or outside.
2. Forget Unknown Bluetooth Devices
- If you find Bluetooth was the issue, you can go into the Bluetooth settings, tap the “i” next to suspicious devices, and select Forget This Device to prevent it from auto-connecting again.
What’s the point in this tutorial? You literally copy and pasted the same thing that literally every other site has, and it’s not really helping anyone.
No sound on Bose soudlink Bluetooth say connected tried turning off Bluetooth repairing hard And soft rebooting and still no sound.
Ive been having a persistent problem with my iphone 6sPlus.
I take public transportation and therefore use earbuds to listen to music whilst commuting.
It happens about 3 plus songs in, and it goes silent. Ive tried changing the settings to Airplane mode and it will work for a song, but then the same problem.
Ive turned airplane mode on and off, unplugging the earbuds, shutting down the phone, and restarting to no avail.
Here’s the simple fix when you have no sound while playing videos. No one has told the simple solution If you check the volume when you using the phone normally and it is loud and the phone rings, the notification will say “ringer.” However, when you play a video but there is no sound. Something they don’t tell you. You have to check the volume key when you are in the video. Then the notification will be “volume.” Such an easy fix.
The sound on my alarm isn’t working nor on my apps which is very frustrating.
I also have this problem with my iPhone 6plus; no sound on Siri, videos and music. All other sounds work. On my iPhone 5, I had a similar problem that turned out to be debris in the charge/docking port. I’ve checked all of the usual suspects this time, but nothing found.
