iPhone X Cellular Data Not Working After iOS 13.3 Update? Here’s How to Fix It

If your iPhone X suddenly can’t connect to the internet via cellular data after updating to iOS 13.3, you’re not alone. This issue has affected a number of users, but the good news is there are several ways to fix it. Here’s a full list of solutions you can try to get your mobile data working again.

Check for Carrier Outages First

Before diving into the fixes, call or check your carrier’s website or app to make sure there isn’t a network outage or maintenance going on in your area. If the carrier says everything’s up and running and you’re in a good coverage zone, move on to the steps below.

1. Restart Your iPhone X

A simple restart can knock out minor bugs that cropped up after the update.

Soft reset:

  1. Press and hold the Side button + either Volume button.
  2. When the power slider appears, drag it to turn off.
  3. Wait 30 seconds, then press and hold the Side button until the Apple logo shows.

Force restart (if the soft reset doesn’t help):

  1. Quickly press and release Volume Up.
  2. Quickly press and release Volume Down.
  3. Press and hold the Side button until you see the Apple logo.

2. Toggle Cellular Data Off and On

Sometimes the easiest fix is just refreshing your connection.

  1. Go to Settings > Cellular.
  2. Toggle Cellular Data off.
  3. Wait 10 seconds, then turn it back on.

3. Use Airplane Mode to Reset Connections

This can quickly reset all wireless connections, including cellular.

  1. Go to Settings and toggle Airplane Mode on.
  2. With it still on, restart your iPhone (use the soft reset method above).
  3. Once back on, go to Settings and toggle Airplane Mode off.

4. Check for a Carrier Settings Update

Carrier settings updates help your iPhone connect to your network properly.

  1. Go to Settings > General > About.
  2. Wait a few seconds — if an update is available, a pop-up will appear.
  3. Tap Update if prompted.

Restart your phone after the update to apply the new settings.

5. Reset Network Settings

If the update messed with your network configuration, this will reset it.

  1. Go to Settings > General > Transfer or Reset iPhone > Reset.
  2. Tap Reset Network Settings.
  3. Enter your passcode and confirm.

This erases saved Wi-Fi passwords, Bluetooth pairings, VPN settings, and resets APNs — so make sure you have any necessary info saved.

6. Reset APN Settings (If Available)

If your carrier allows manual APN edits:

  1. Go to Settings > Cellular > Cellular Data Network.
  2. Tap Reset Settings at the bottom (if visible).

If you don’t see this option, your carrier likely manages APNs automatically.

7. Remove and Reinsert the SIM Card

This forces your iPhone to re-read the SIM and re-register with the network.

  1. Turn off your iPhone completely.
  2. Use a SIM ejector tool to remove the SIM tray.
  3. Take out the SIM and inspect for damage. If it looks fine, reinsert it carefully.
  4. Slide the tray back in and turn your phone on.

Still Not Working? Try These Last Resorts

If nothing above worked, here are some deeper options — but use with caution:

  • Factory Reset: Erases everything and restores the phone to default settings.
  • Recovery Mode or DFU Mode Restore: Reinstalls iOS completely, which can fix deep system issues.

Important: Back up your data to iCloud or a computer before trying these.

If you’re still stuck, contact your carrier or Apple Support. They may have more insight specific to your account or device.
