Solution 2: Check if the Front Camera of your iPhone is clean

FACE ID basically means your device is capable of recognizing facial features that are added as FACE ID on device. This means that you have to make sure the Front Camera of your iPhone is clean and dust free to be accurately detected. In order for the device to scan your face properly, wipe the front camera with a clean cloth.

Solution 3: Check and Manage Face ID Settings on Your iPhone

Check whether FACE ID of your device is enabled by doing these steps:

  1. Go to Settings from the Home Screen
  2. Scroll down from the list of options and tap on FACE ID & Passcode
  3. If required, enter correct Passcode.
  4. Enable FACE ID by choosing from the list of options on how FACE ID is to be used for: iPhone Unlock, iTunes & App Store and or Password AutoFill, Apple Pay and other apps.

Solution 4: Create/register a New Face ID Appearance

Before the iPhone can do a facial recognition, it is always a procedure to register a new FACE ID appearance for the device to recognize your facial appearance.

To add a FACE ID:

  1. Go to Settings from the Home Screen
  2. Scroll down from the list of options and tap on Face ID & Passcode
  3. If required, enter correct Passcode
  4. Tap on Set Up Face ID.
  5. Tap Get Started and follow instructions

  7. Slowly, move you head in the circle.
  8. Tap Continue.
  9. Then move your head slowly again in a second circle.
  10.  Tap Done.

There is also an option to add a second person to Face ID on your device.

Solution 5: Reset all settings

Doing Reset does not delete personal files, what it does is that it only deletes saved passwords such as WiFI and email passwords and brings the iPhone setting back to Default. Thus it is very important to have a copy of those passwords on hand for future sign in after resetting all the settings.

To reset all settings:

  1. Go to Settings from the Home Screen
  2. Scroll down to the list of options and Tap on Reset.
  3. Tap on Reset All Settings
  4. Enter Device Passcode when prompt

Solution 6: Restore Factory Settings

This method should be a last resort to fixing Apple Face ID issue because all your apps and personal data will be deleted. Make sure to back up your data before doing this solution:

To Restore Factory Settings:

  1. Go to Settings from the Home Screen
  2. Scroll down to the list of options and Tap on Reset.
  3. Tap on Erase All Content & Settings
  4. Enter Device Passcode when prompt.

With all the above mentioned solutions, and still the problems persists then the problem is probably a hardware issue. Given that, it is best to visit your nearest Apple Store for repair.
