How to Use Call Forwarding on your iPhone 6s

Call Forwarding or call diversion is a phone feature that lets you redirect incoming calls to other number, phone, or voicemail box. Forwarding or routing calls is a great trick especially in situations where you really can’t answer phone calls on your phone. When enabled, all inbound calls to your iPhone 6s will be routed to the number you’ve specified to forward all incoming calls to.

Here’s how to enable Call Forwarding on your iPhone 6s:

  1. Tap Settings from the Home screen.

  5. Enter the forwarding number you want on the Forwarding To field.
  • To route all incoming calls to your voicemail, just use your own voicemail number.

You should then see the Call Forwarding icon shown in the status bar. This icon indicates Call Forwarding is enabled on your iPhone.

Conditional and Unconditional Forwarding

Call Forwarding is divided into two types, namely, unconditional and conditional. If you want to immediately forward all calls to another phone number without letting the device to ring, you can enable Call Forwarding Unconditional (CFU) feature. Just refer to the above steps to activate this feature.

If you want to forward incoming calls to another phone number/device if you don’t or can’t answer them, then you can activate the Call Forwarding Conditional (CFC) feature on your iPhone. However, CFC cannot be configured through your iPhone menus. This means if you opt to use this Call Forwarding feature, you need to contact your network carrier to get the correct codes or short codes for call services.

  • If you want to change the Call Forwarding number, tap Forward to, enter a different number you want, then tap the Back
  • If you don’t want to use Call Forwarding anymore, simply disable the feature by tapping the Call Forwarding switch to OFF. To do so, navigate to Settings->Phone->Phone->Call Forwarding.
