How to Make a Call on iPhone 6s
To make a call manually:
- Open the Phone app from the Home screen.
- Tap Keypad and enter the phone number.
- Tap the Call button.
To call a saved contact:
- Open the Phone app and tap Contacts.
- Find and tap the name of the person you want to call.
- Tap their phone number to start the call.
While you’re on a call, you can:
- Tap Mute to turn your microphone off and on.
- Tap Keypad to bring up the dial pad.
- Tap Speaker to use speakerphone.
- Tap Contacts to look up another number.
- Tap FaceTime to start a video call (if available).
- Tap Add Call to start a conference call.
To hang up: Tap the End call button.
Tip: If you press the Home button during a call, a green bar will appear at the top of your screen to quickly return to the call.
How to Manage Caller ID on iPhone 6s
Want to hide or show your phone number when calling someone? Here’s how:
- Open Settings.
- Tap Phone.
- Tap Show My Caller ID.
- Toggle the switch ON (to show your number) or OFF (to hide it).
Note: You can also block your caller ID for individual calls by entering a code before dialing the number. Check with your carrier for the correct code.
How to View and Clear Call History
To view call logs:
- Open the Phone app.
- Tap Recents.
To delete call logs:
- Tap Edit.
- Tap the red minus (-) button next to a call to delete it.
- Tap Clear > Clear All Recents to delete the entire call history.
How to Set Up Call Forwarding
Want calls sent to another number or your voicemail? Here’s how:
- Open Settings.
- Tap Phone.
- Tap Call Forwarding.
- Toggle Call Forwarding ON and enter the number you want calls forwarded to.
Unconditional Forwarding sends all calls immediately.
Conditional Forwarding (forward only if no answer, busy, unreachable) needs to be set up through your carrier.
To turn off Call Forwarding, just toggle the switch OFF.
How to Block Calls on iPhone 6s
To block a number from the Phone app:
- Open Phone > Recents.
- Tap the i (info) icon next to the number you want to block.
- Scroll down and tap Block this Caller.
To manage blocked numbers:
- Open Settings > Phone > Blocked Contacts.
To unblock a number:
- Tap Edit, then Unblock next to the number.
How to Use Do Not Disturb to Block All Calls
If you want to silence all incoming calls temporarily:
- Open Settings > Do Not Disturb.
- Toggle Manual ON to silence all calls immediately.
- You’ll see a moon icon on the status bar when Do Not Disturb is active.
You can also schedule Do Not Disturb to activate automatically at specific times.
How to Make a Conference Call on iPhone 6s
Want to talk to multiple people at once? You can conference up to five callers.
To start a conference call:
- Make your first call.
- Once connected, tap Add Call.
- Call your next participant.
- Tap Merge Calls to join them into a single conversation.
While on a conference call, you can:
- Tap i to view participants.
- Tap End next to a person to remove them.
- Tap Private to talk to someone one-on-one, then tap Merge Calls to return.
To add an incoming call to the conference:
- Tap Hold & Accept.
- Tap Merge Calls.
How to Manage Incoming Calls During Another Call (Call Waiting)
When you’re on a call and another call comes in, you’ll have three options:
- Send to Voicemail: Ignore the new call.
- Hold & Accept: Put the current call on hold and answer the new one.
- End & Accept: Hang up the current call and answer the new one.
Tip: If you hear a beep during a call, it means someone is trying to reach you!
