How to Sync iPhone Contacts to Mac (2 Easy Methods)
Need to back up your iPhone contacts to your Mac? Whether you want a wireless sync or prefer the old-fashioned way using a cable, it only takes a few steps. Here are two of the easiest and most reliable methods to sync contacts from your iPhone to your Mac.
Method 1: Sync Contacts Using iCloud (Wireless)
This is the simplest and most seamless method. As long as both your iPhone and Mac are connected to the same iCloud account, they’ll sync automatically.
On your iPhone:
- Open Settings.
- Tap your Apple ID name at the top.
- Tap iCloud.
- Toggle Contacts ON.
- If prompted, tap Merge to combine local contacts with iCloud.
On your Mac:
- Open System Preferences (or System Settings on macOS Ventura or later).
- Click Apple ID, then choose iCloud.
- Make sure Contacts is checked.
Your iPhone contacts will now automatically sync to the Contacts app on your Mac.
Method 2: Sync Contacts Using iTunes (Wired)
If you’d rather use a USB cable, or aren’t using iCloud, iTunes still gets the job done.
- Plug your iPhone into your Mac using a Lightning cable.
- Open iTunes (or Finder on macOS Catalina and later).
- Select your device when it appears.
- Click the Info tab.
- Check Sync Contacts.
- Click Apply.
This method will copy your iPhone contacts to your Mac’s Contacts app. Just remember to sync regularly if you add new contacts.
