How to Log Out of Mail on iPhone SE 3 (iOS 15.6)

Unlike third-party email apps, Apple’s Mail app doesn’t have a clear “Log Out” button—but you can still sign out of any email account with a few quick steps. Whether you’re switching accounts, troubleshooting, or just want to pause email notifications, here’s how to sign out of Mail on your iPhone SE 3 or any iPhone running iOS 15.6.

Log Out of an Email Account in Apple Mail

  1. Open Settings
Tap the Settings app on your Home screen.
  2. Go to Mail Settings
    Scroll down and tap Mail.
  3. Tap Accounts
You’ll see a list of all email accounts set up on your device (Gmail, iCloud, Outlook, etc.).
  4. Select the Account You Want to Log Out Of
Tap the email account you want to disconnect from Mail.
  5. Toggle Off Mail
On the next screen, turn off the switch next to Mail.

That’s it—your selected account is now logged out from the Mail app. You’ll no longer receive emails from it on your iPhone, but the account itself stays saved in case you want to re-enable it later.

What Happens When You Log Out

  • Your emails stop syncing with the Mail app.
  • Notifications from that account will stop.
  • You won’t be able to send or receive emails from that account on this device.

🔒 This does not delete the account from your iPhone—it just disables Mail for that account. You can toggle it back on anytime.

To Completely Delete the Email Account

If you want to remove the account from your iPhone entirely:

  1. Follow the same steps above to access the account settings.
  2. Tap Delete Account at the bottom of the screen.
  3. Confirm your decision.

This erases the account from your device and removes access across Mail, Contacts, Calendars, and Notes if they were linked.

How to Sign Back In or Add a New Email

To re-enable Mail for a previously disabled account:

  1. Go to Settings > Mail > Accounts.
  2. Tap the account.
  3. Toggle the Mail switch back ON.

To set up a new email account:

  1. Go to Settings > Mail > Accounts.
  2. Tap Add Account.
  3. Choose your email provider or tap Other.
  4. Follow the prompts to enter your login details and set up the account.
