Some owners of the Apple iPhone XR reported about some network issues after updating their devices to iOS 13. The most common is when the device has no Internet even if it’s connected to a WiFi network. Of course, it’s always possible that the problem is with the network device that’s giving out the signal but if we have to look at it at a different angle, the problem could be with the device.
We have to consider and look into all possibilities and then rule them out one after another until we can determine what the issue really is and hopefully be able to fix it. Fixing an iPhone XR that has no Internet after the iOS 13 update
Based on our experience, this problem isn’t really that hard to fix. In fact, you may be able to fix it by doing one or a couple of troubleshooting procedures. With that said, here’s what you should do:
First solution: Make sure it’s not a network problem
If your iPhone XR is connected to a WiFi network yet it has no internet, the problem could be with your network device. Your router may need to be refreshed and you can do so by rebooting it. Here’s a step-by-step guide on how to effectively fix possible network issues:
- Unplug your modem or router from the wall outlet or simply disconnect the power cord from the main unit.
- Leave it without power for a minute or two.
- After that, plug it back into the wall outlet or reconnect the cord.
- Wait for the device to become online and then let your phone reconnect to it.
If your iPhone XR still has no Internet after this, then move on to the next solution.

Second solution: Force Restart your iPhone XR
A forced restart is a simulated battery removal that will refresh the memory as well as reload all applications and services. If this problem is due to a minor firmware glitch, then the forced restart will take care of it. Here’s how it’s done:
- Quickly press and release the Volume Up button, and then quickly press and release the Volume Down button.
- The moment you release the volume down button, press and hold the Side or Power key until the Apple logo shows on the screen.
Once your iPhone has successfully rebooted, let it reconnect to the network and see if it still has no internet or if the problem is already fixed.

Third solution: Reset the Network Settings of your iPhone
After doing the first two procedures and your iPhone XR still has no internet, then the next thing you have to do is reset its network settings. This will delete all the connections in your device as well as reload all its services. Here’s how it’s done:
- From the Home screen, tap Settings.
- Tap General.
- Scroll down to the bottom of the screen, and then touch Reset.
- Touch Reset Network Settings.
- If prompted, enter your security lock.
- Tap Reset Network Settings at the bottom of the screen.
- Your iPhone will reboot after this, once it has finished rebooting, try to see if the problem is fixed.
If your iPhone XR still has no internet or if the problem fixed but occurs every now and then, then a reset will be necessary.

Fourth solution: Factory reset your iPhone XR
At this point, a factory reset will be necessary. If you were able to update your device without using iTunes, then this must be just a firmware problem. Therefore, you can fix it by doing a reset. However, make sure to create a copy of your important files and data prior to the reset because they will be deleted and you may not be able to recover them after the reset. When ready, follow these steps to reset your iPhone XR that has no internet:
- From the Home screen, tap Settings.
- Find and tap General.
- Scroll down to the bottom of the screen, and then touch Reset.
- Tap Erase All Contents and Settings.
- Tap Erase Now.
- If prompted, enter your security lock.
- Tap Erase iPhone at the bottom of the screen.
- Tap Erase iPhone again to proceed with the reset.
