iPhone X Won’t Connect to Wi-Fi? Here’s How to Fix It

If your iPhone X suddenly refuses to connect to Wi-Fi or you’re getting slow or intermittent connectivity, you’re not alone. Wi-Fi problems are among the most common iPhone issues and can usually be resolved with a few simple steps. Whether it started after an update, or you just can’t get a signal at home, here’s how to get your iPhone X back online.

Common Causes of Wi-Fi Issues

  • 🔌 Router or modem glitches
  • ⚠️ Incorrect or corrupted network settings
  • 🐞 iOS software bugs (especially after updates)
  • 📶 Network outages or account issues
  • 🔧 Hardware problems (antenna or internal components)

1. Restart Your iPhone and Your Router

Often, Wi-Fi issues can be fixed by simply restarting both your devices.

  • Restart iPhone X:
    • Press and hold the Side button + Volume Down until the slider appears
    • Slide to power off
    • Wait 30 seconds, then turn it back on
  • Restart Router:
    • Unplug it from power for at least 1 minute
    • Plug it back in and wait for it to fully reboot

Then reconnect to Wi-Fi and test the connection.

2. Forget the Wi-Fi Network and Reconnect

Your saved Wi-Fi profile might be corrupted.

  • Go to Settings > Wi-Fi
  • Tap the next to your network
  • Tap Forget This Network
  • Restart your iPhone
  • Go back to Wi-Fi settings and reconnect by entering the password again

3. Reset Network Settings

This will reset all Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and VPN settings to factory defaults (but won’t delete your data).

  • Go to Settings > General > Transfer or Reset iPhone
  • Tap Reset > Reset Network Settings
  • Enter your passcode if prompted

Your iPhone will reboot. Reconnect to Wi-Fi and test again.

4. Factory Reset (Use with Caution)

If Wi-Fi still doesn’t work and you suspect a deep software issue:

  • Go to Settings > General > Transfer or Reset iPhone
  • Tap Erase All Content and Settings
  • Follow prompts to factory reset the phone
  • Backup your data first via iCloud or iTunes

After the reset, set your iPhone up as new and connect to Wi-Fi before restoring apps or backups.

5. DFU Restore (Advanced)

This is the most comprehensive iOS restore option and can fix stubborn firmware-related Wi-Fi issues.

⚠️ You’ll need a Mac or PC with the latest version of iTunes or Finder. This will erase your device completely.

Steps:

  1. Connect your iPhone X to your computer
  2. Quickly press Volume Up, then Volume Down, then hold the Side button
  3. When the screen goes black, hold Volume Down while continuing to hold Side button for 5 seconds
  4. Release Side button but keep holding Volume Down until iTunes/Finder detects your iPhone in recovery mode
  5. Follow prompts to Restore

Still Not Working?

If you’ve tried all of the above and Wi-Fi still isn’t working:

  • Test your iPhone on another Wi-Fi network
  • If it can’t connect anywhere, it’s likely a hardware issue
  • Contact Apple Support or visit a Genius Bar for diagnostics
