iPhone 7 Plus Won’t Connect to Wi-Fi After an iOS Update? Here’s How to Fix It
Sometimes after a major iOS update, things don’t go as smoothly as planned. One common issue iPhone 7 Plus users run into is Wi-Fi problems — especially after installing a new version of iOS. If your iPhone 7 Plus suddenly can’t connect to Wi-Fi or won’t stay connected, don’t worry. Below are all the steps you can take to fix it.
1. Reboot Your iPhone (Soft Reset)
Sometimes the solution is as simple as a restart — especially if the issue started right after the update.
- Hold the Power button until Slide to Power Off appears.
- Slide to turn it off.
- After 30 seconds, press and hold Power again until the Apple logo appears.
2. Toggle Wi-Fi Off and Back On
This refreshes your connection without affecting your settings.
- Swipe up (or down from the top-right on newer models) to open Control Center.
- Tap the Wi-Fi icon to turn it off.
- Wait a few seconds, then tap it again to turn it back on.
Alternatively:
- Go to Settings > Wi-Fi and toggle it off, then back on.
3. Forget Your Wi-Fi Network and Reconnect
The update may have corrupted your saved Wi-Fi profile.
- Go to Settings > Wi-Fi.
- Tap the “i” icon next to your connected network.
- Tap Forget This Network.
- Restart your iPhone.
- Go back to Wi-Fi settings, choose your network again, and re-enter the password.
4. Reset Network Settings
If the update messed with your Wi-Fi configuration, this will wipe all saved networks, VPNs, and Bluetooth settings.
- Go to Settings > General > Transfer or Reset iPhone > Reset.
- Tap Reset Network Settings.
- Enter your passcode and confirm.
Your iPhone will reboot and you’ll need to reconnect to your Wi-Fi network manually.
5. Factory Reset Your iPhone (Last Resort)
If nothing else works, a full reset may be necessary. This will erase all data — so back up your iPhone before doing this.
- Go to Settings > General > Transfer or Reset iPhone > Erase All Content and Settings.
- Enter your passcode and confirm.
After the reset, set your iPhone up as new (don’t restore a backup yet) and test the Wi-Fi connection first. If it works, the issue is software-related and the reset fixed it.
