iPhone 7 Keeps Losing Signal or Shows “No Service”? Here’s How to Fix It

If your iPhone 7 is randomly dropping signal, stuck on “Searching” or “No Service,” or can’t connect to a cellular network, you’re not alone. These network issues can cause problems making calls, sending texts, or using mobile data. This guide walks you through all the possible fixes to get your iPhone 7 back online.

1. Restart Your iPhone 7

A simple reboot can fix temporary software glitches that mess with your signal.

  • Press and hold the Power (Sleep/Wake) button until you see the slider.
  • Drag the slider to turn the phone off.
  • After 30 seconds, press and hold the Power button again until the Apple logo appears.

If your phone is frozen or unresponsive:

  • Hold Power + Volume Down buttons together for about 10 seconds until you see the Apple logo.

2. Toggle Airplane Mode

Sometimes, all it takes is a quick reset of the phone’s radios.

  • Go to Settings > Airplane Mode.
  • Turn it ON, wait a few seconds, then turn it OFF.

Or swipe into Control Center and tap the airplane icon twice.

3. Check for Carrier Outages

Before diving deeper, make sure the issue isn’t with your network provider.

  • Visit your carrier’s website or social media pages for outage notices.
  • Call customer support to confirm your account is active and in good standing.

If there’s an outage, you’ll have to wait it out.

4. Reinsert Your SIM Card

A loose or dusty SIM can cause signal issues.

  • Turn off your iPhone.
  • Use a SIM eject tool (or paperclip) to pop out the SIM tray.
  • Remove the SIM, wipe it gently, and inspect for any damage or dirt.
  • Reinsert the SIM securely and power your phone back on.

5. Reset Network Settings

If your settings are corrupted or misconfigured, a reset can help.

  • Go to Settings > General > Transfer or Reset iPhone > Reset > Reset Network Settings.
  • Enter your passcode if prompted.
  • This will erase saved Wi-Fi passwords, VPN settings, and cellular preferences—but it won’t delete personal data.

6. Switch Cellular Band (LTE/3G/4G)

If you’re constantly dropping LTE or getting “No Service” in certain areas, try switching bands.

  • Go to Settings > Cellular > Cellular Data Options > Voice & Data.
  • Try changing from LTE to 3G, or vice versa, and test the connection.

7. Update iOS

Some network bugs are fixed in newer iOS versions.

  • Go to Settings > General > Software Update.
  • If an update is available, download and install it.
  • Make sure your iPhone is connected to Wi-Fi and has enough battery (or plug it in).

8. Power Cycle Your Router (for Wi-Fi issues)

If you’re also having trouble with Wi-Fi:

  • Unplug your router or modem from power.
  • Wait about 30 seconds.
  • Plug it back in and wait for it to fully reboot.
  • Reconnect your iPhone and see if the signal improves.

9. Factory Reset (Last Resort)

If nothing else works, a full reset might solve the issue—but it’ll wipe everything.

  • Go to Settings > General > Transfer or Reset iPhone > Erase All Content and Settings.
  • Back up your data first via iCloud or iTunes.

After the reset, set your iPhone up as new and test network connectivity before restoring any backups.

Still Not Working? Contact Apple or Your Carrier

If your iPhone 7 is still showing “No Service” or dropping signal, the problem could be hardware-related—especially if your device was recently dropped or got wet. Reach out to Apple Support or your carrier for more advanced diagnostics or possible repairs.
