iPhone 12 Connected to Wi-Fi But No Internet? Here’s How to Fix It

Your iPhone 12 says it’s connected to Wi-Fi — but you can’t get online. Frustrating, right? This issue usually comes down to a minor glitch in your phone, the router, or a network setting that needs a refresh. Thankfully, it’s rarely hardware-related and can often be fixed with a few simple steps.

Here’s what to do when your iPhone 12 has no internet access even though it’s connected to a Wi-Fi network.

1. Check If You’re Connected to the Right Network

Sometimes your iPhone might latch onto an old or public Wi-Fi signal that isn’t working.

  • Go to Settings > Wi-Fi
  • Make sure you’re connected to your home or known network
  • If necessary, toggle Wi-Fi off, wait a few seconds, then turn it back on

If you’re using public Wi-Fi, there’s a chance that network is the problem — try switching to cellular data to verify.

2. Force Restart Your iPhone

A quick forced restart can clear out glitches that affect Wi-Fi services.

How to force restart iPhone 12:

  1. Press and quickly release Volume Up
  2. Press and quickly release Volume Down
  3. Press and hold the Side button until the Apple logo appears

Once it reboots, test your internet connection again.

3. Restart Your Wi-Fi Router

If the problem persists, your router might be the culprit — not your iPhone.

Restart your router:

  • Unplug the router from power for about 60 seconds
  • Plug it back in and wait until all lights are back on
  • Reconnect your iPhone and try accessing a website or app

This resets the network signal and clears temporary router issues.

4. Reset Network Settings on iPhone

If your iPhone’s Wi-Fi configuration is corrupted, this can cause connectivity problems even when you’re connected to a network.

To reset network settings:

  1. Go to Settings > General
  2. Scroll down and tap Transfer or Reset iPhone
  3. Tap Reset > Reset Network Settings
  4. Enter your passcode and confirm

This will erase saved Wi-Fi passwords, so you’ll need to reconnect manually afterward.

5. Perform a Factory Reset (If All Else Fails)

Still no luck? If you’ve ruled out router issues and the problem continues even after a network reset, a full factory reset may be needed.

Important: Back up your data first — this process erases everything on your iPhone.

Steps to factory reset:

  1. Go to Settings > General
  2. Tap Transfer or Reset iPhone > Erase All Content and Settings
  3. Tap Continue, then enter your passcode
  4. Enter your Apple ID password to confirm
  5. Wait for the device to reset and reboot

After the reset, set up your iPhone as new or restore from backup.

If the problem continues even after a factory reset and other devices also can’t connect, contact your internet service provider — you may have a faulty router or signal issue.
