Facebook App Not Opening on iPhone 11 Pro Max? Here’s How to Fix It

If the Facebook app on your iPhone 11 Pro Max refuses to open, gets stuck on the loading screen, or crashes right after launch — you’re not alone. While Facebook is generally reliable, even top-tier apps can glitch, especially after software updates or changes to your phone’s settings.

Here’s a step-by-step guide to help you fix the Facebook app not opening on your iPhone 11 Pro Max.

1. Restart Your iPhone (Soft Reset)

A simple reboot clears out temporary software bugs that may be blocking Facebook from launching.

  • Press and hold the Side button and Volume Up button until you see the power-off slider.
  • Drag the slider to turn off your iPhone.
  • Wait 30 seconds, then press and hold the Side button until the Apple logo appears.

After rebooting, try opening Facebook again.

2. Update the Facebook App

Outdated versions can be unstable — especially after a new iOS update.

  • Open the App Store.
  • Tap your profile icon in the top-right corner.
  • Scroll to Available Updates.
  • Tap Update next to Facebook (or Update All if you want to refresh other apps too).
  • Once updated, relaunch Facebook.

3. Refresh Your Internet Connection

If your iPhone has a weak or unstable Wi-Fi signal, Facebook might not load properly.

  • Go to Settings > Wi-Fi, and toggle Wi-Fi off and back on after a few seconds.
  • Or try the Airplane Mode trick:
    • Turn Airplane Mode ON, wait 10 seconds, then turn it OFF again.

Then try launching Facebook once you’re reconnected.

4. Forget Wi-Fi Network and Reconnect

If your current Wi-Fi network is glitchy or corrupted, removing and reconnecting can help.

  • Go to Settings > Wi-Fi.
  • Tap the “i” next to your connected network > Forget This Network.
  • Reboot your iPhone.
  • Go back to Wi-Fi settings, reconnect, and re-enter your password.

Try opening the Facebook app again.

5. Check Content & Privacy Restrictions

Restrictions in Screen Time might block the Facebook app from opening.

  • Go to Settings > Screen Time > Content & Privacy Restrictions.
  • If enabled, enter your Screen Time passcode.
  • Toggle Content & Privacy Restrictions OFF temporarily.
  • Or go to Allowed Apps and make sure Facebook isn’t blocked.

6. Delete and Reinstall the Facebook App

If the app itself is corrupted, a fresh install can fix it.

  • Tap and hold the Facebook app icon.
  • Tap Remove App > Delete App > Confirm.
  • Open the App Store, search for Facebook, then tap Get to reinstall it.
  • Open Facebook and log in again.

7. Check If Facebook Servers Are Down

Sometimes the issue isn’t your phone — it’s Facebook itself.

  • Visit Downdetector – Facebook to check if others are reporting outages.
  • If Facebook’s servers are down, you’ll have to wait until they’re back online.

Still Not Working?

If none of these steps fix the issue:

  • Try logging into your account via Safari or Chrome at facebook.com.
  • Use the Lite version of the app (Facebook Lite) temporarily.
  • Contact Facebook support through their Help Center.
