iPhone 11, 11 Pro, or 11 Pro Max Not Syncing with iTunes? Here’s How to Fix It

Trying to sync your iPhone with iTunes and getting the “iPhone Can’t Sync With iTunes” error? This is a common problem, especially after software updates or if you’re using outdated tools. Whether you’re on an iPhone 11, 11 Pro, or 11 Pro Max, there are several quick fixes you can try to get syncing back on track.

Here’s what to do when your iPhone won’t sync with iTunes.

1. Check Apple’s System Status

Before doing anything else, make sure the issue isn’t on Apple’s end.

  • Go to Apple System Status.
  • Look for iTunes or Apple ID.
  • If you see a green dot next to it, Apple’s systems are working fine.
  • If not, wait until Apple resolves the issue before trying again.

2. Make Sure You’re Signed In to iTunes

Not being signed in to your Apple ID can cause sync issues.

  1. Open iTunes on your computer.
  2. Click Account in the top menu.
  3. If you don’t see your Apple ID email, you’re not signed in.
  4. Sign in with your Apple ID and password.
  5. Once signed in, go to Account > Authorizations > Authorize This Computer.

3. Check or Replace Your Lightning Cable

A faulty cable can cause syncing failures.

  • Try using a different Apple-certified Lightning cable.
  • Avoid third-party or damaged cables.
  • Check for debris or damage in your iPhone’s Lightning port.

4. Update iTunes

Older iTunes versions may not support new iOS versions.

On Windows:

  1. Open iTunes.
  2. Click Help > Check for Updates.
  3. Follow the prompts to download and install the latest version.

On macOS Catalina or later:

  • iTunes is replaced by Finder. Just make sure your Mac is updated via System Preferences > Software Update.

5. Reinstall iTunes

If your iTunes app is glitchy or corrupted, a clean reinstall may help.

On Windows:

  1. Uninstall iTunes via Control Panel > Programs and Features.
  2. Download the latest version from Apple’s website.
  3. Install and open iTunes, then try syncing again.

6. Force Restart Both iPhone and Computer

A simple reboot can clear out minor bugs or frozen processes.

To restart your iPhone 11, 11 Pro, or 11 Pro Max:

  1. Quickly press and release the Volume Up button.
  2. Quickly press and release the Volume Down button.
  3. Press and hold the Side button until the Apple logo appears.

To restart your computer:

  • Use your usual Shut Down or Restart option, then boot it back up.
