iPhone 11 Keeps Restarting? Here’s How to Fix the Reboot Loop Issue
If your iPhone 11, 11 Pro, or 11 Pro Max is randomly restarting or stuck in a constant reboot loop, you’re not alone. Many users have reported sudden restarts—sometimes just minutes after booting up, or even before the phone finishes restarting. This issue can be caused by software glitches, faulty apps, SIM-related conflicts, or even battery problems. Here’s how to fix it.
1. Update iOS to the Latest Version
Outdated software often causes stability problems—including random reboots. Apple regularly releases updates to patch bugs, so installing the latest iOS version could solve the issue.
To check for updates:
- Go to Settings > General > Software Update
- Tap Download and Install if an update is available.
Make sure your battery is at least 50% or keep the phone plugged in during the update.
2. Update All Your Apps
An outdated or buggy app might be triggering the restart loop, especially after an iOS update.
To update apps:
- Open the App Store.
- Tap your profile icon at the top right.
- Tap Update All under the list of available updates.
If the restart loop prevents you from doing this, try booting into Safe Mode or using App Store via cellular or Wi-Fi after a stable restart.
3. Force Restart Your iPhone
A force restart clears out temporary bugs and helps stop random reboots.
To force restart:
- Press and release Volume Up.
- Press and release Volume Down.
- Press and hold the Side button until the Apple logo appears.
This can sometimes stop a restart loop long enough to apply updates or changes.
4. Remove Your SIM Card
Sometimes a corrupted or unsupported SIM card can trigger reboots, especially if the phone struggles to connect to the network.
To test this:
- Turn off your iPhone.
- Use a SIM ejector tool or paperclip to remove the SIM tray.
- Power on the phone without the SIM inserted.
If the reboot loop stops, your SIM might be the issue. Try replacing it or contacting your carrier.
5. Plug In and Let It Charge
If your battery is nearly drained, your iPhone may keep restarting before it has enough power to fully boot up.
- Connect it to a wall charger using the original cable.
- Leave it for 15–30 minutes without using it.
- Then try powering it on again.
6. Reset All Settings
Resetting all settings can fix misconfigured options that may be triggering system instability—without deleting your personal data.
To reset all settings:
- Go to Settings > General > Transfer or Reset iPhone.
- Tap Reset > Reset All Settings.
- Enter your passcode and confirm.
Your Wi-Fi passwords and preferences will be erased, but no files or apps will be deleted.
Still Rebooting? Try These Advanced Fixes
If the issue continues, try one of these deeper-level solutions:
- Backup your iPhone and perform a factory reset via Settings > General > Transfer or Reset iPhone > Erase All Content and Settings.
- Use Recovery Mode or DFU Mode via a computer with iTunes or Finder to reinstall iOS. This helps if a corrupted OS is causing the reboot loop.
If the rebooting persists after a factory reset, your iPhone may have a hardware defect (e.g., logic board or battery damage). At that point, your best option is to visit an Apple Store or authorized service provider for diagnostics.
