Problem #1: How to fix iPhone X slow wifi issue

My home wifi when tested on a computer shows up at around 55Mbps which is normal for me. However when tested on  my iphone 7 it only yields 0.07mbps which is not normal and the device struggles to load google and email and will not load anything else. The only way I can load things is by using cellular data. The phone works fine on data and only seems to struggle with wifi. I have tried resetting the router but it still does not affect the phone.

Solution: There are two important things that you want to check in this situation.

Ensure you connect to the right wifi network

You want to make sure that you are connecting to the right wifi network. This is an important consideration if there are a lot of nearby wifi networks around.

Check router settings

Secondly, it’s possible that there may be a setting in your router that limits the speed of your iPhone X. If you are not the administrator of your wifi, make sure to talk to that person so they can remove the speed restriction. If you are the only one using or managing your wifi, we suggest that you call your Internet Service Provider for help, especially if you don’t know how to check. If the router is not provided by your ISP, check the router documentation or contact its manufacturer.

Problem #2: What to do if iPhone X wifi keeps disconnecting

My iPhone can connect to home wifi if I toggle the switch off and back on, but I often notice it’s not using wifi. It’s running up my data usage unnecessarily. This is a new issue in the past few months. It’s made me use 16GB per month when I used to only use 6GB per month. I shouldn’t have to manually connect to wifi when I get home. I have whole home wifi with these little ISP-branded PLUME pods (wifi mesh). I have great coverage in my house, so there’s no reason it shouldn’t be connecting! Any thoughts?

Solution: There may be a network configuration bug causing the problem. Make sure to do the following solutions below to fix it:

Reset network settings

Resetting network settings will reset all data connections back to factory defaults. This therefore denotes losing of your current network settings including Wi-Fi networks and passwords, as well as server settings you have previously used on your device. Paired Bluetooth devices, stored tethered connections, and wireless networks will be deleted. It’s often a recommended workaround when dealing with network-related issues like no connectivity or signal problems transpiring on the iPhone. Follow these steps to perform a network settings reset on the new iPhone X:

  1. Tap Settings to open the app.
  2. Tap General.
  3. Tap Reset.
  4. Select the option to Reset Network Settings.
  5. If prompted, enter the device password.
  6. Confirm action.

After the reset, the connection status of your device will set to default or similar to when your iPhone was being powered on for the first time. Airplane mode is set to OFF, Bluetooth is turned ON, Data roaming is OFF, as well as Mobile Hotspot and VPN. Wi-Fi and Mobile data are set to ON.

Ensure Auto-Join is enabled

Once you’ve reset the device’s networks, make sure that Auto-Join option is turned on. This will force the phone to connect to your wifi network on its own when it’s within range. Here’s how:

  1. Connect to your own wifi.
  2. Open Settings app.
  3. Tap Wi-Fi.
  4. Tap the blue circle with an “i” beside the network name.
  5. Move slider for Auto-Join to the right to enable it.

Factory reset

Should the problem remain at this point, the next good thing to do is to wipe the phone and return all software information back to defaults. Here’s how to do that:

  1. Tap Settings app.
  2. Tap General.
  3. Tap Reset.
  4. Select the option to Erase All Content and Settings.
  5. If prompted, enter the correct passcode for your device to continue.
  6. Tap the option to confirm action.

Factory reset will delete all user data. Be sure to back your files to iTunes or iCloud before wiping the phone.

Problem #3: What to do if iPhone X can’t open an app

I have an iPhone X and 2 weeks ago any app that wasn’t built in, won’t open. I just spent 6 weeks on a place with no WiFi so I couldn’t update any app. A week ago I sent my phone with a friend and she updated the software to the 11.4.1, but still the apps won’t open. I just got WiFi and I’ve tried many things like shutting the iPhone off, restarted it, erased all the settings, renewed the lease on the wifi, etc. But still the apps won’t open. I try to update one of them but it stays on the ‘thinking’ mode. I just updated an app on my iPad so my wifi connection is not the problem.

Solution: Make sure that you also try to erase the app first, then reinstall. If that won’t help, it’s possibly not compatible with the current OS, or may have encountered a coding error. Try to reset your phone’s settings and see what happens. Here’s how:

  1. Tap Settings from the Home screen.
  2. Tap General.
  3. Tap Reset.
  4. Tap Reset All Settings.
  5. If prompted, enter the correct passcode for your device.
  6. Tap the option to Reset All Settings to confirm action.

If you’ve already tried this before you contacted us, or if nothing helps at all, we suggest that you contact the app developer and ask support.
