iPhone 11 Pro Ghost Touch After iOS 13.2.3 Update? Here’s How to Fix It

If your iPhone 11 Pro screen is moving or tapping things on its own after updating to iOS 13.2.3, you’re likely dealing with the dreaded ghost touch bug. This weird glitch causes the display to behave as if it’s being touched—even when it isn’t. While it’s rare, it can be incredibly disruptive.

Here’s how to troubleshoot and hopefully stop ghost touch from haunting your iPhone.

1. Force Close Apps and Reboot Your iPhone

Some apps may have gone rogue after the update and could be triggering weird screen behavior.

To close background apps:

  • Swipe up from the bottom and pause in the middle of the screen.
  • Swipe left/right to locate open apps.
  • Swipe up on each app card to close them.

Then reboot your iPhone:

  • Hold Side button + Volume Up until the slider appears.
  • Slide to power off. Wait 30 seconds.
  • Hold the Side button again to turn the phone back on.

If your screen is unresponsive:

  • Quickly press and release Volume Up.
  • Quickly press and release Volume Down.
  • Hold the Side button until you see the Apple logo.

2. Update All Apps

Outdated apps can conflict with new iOS changes and trigger bugs like ghost touch.

To update:

  • Open the App Store.
  • Tap your profile icon in the top-right.
  • Scroll to Available Updates.
  • Tap Update All.

Reboot your iPhone again after updating the apps.

3. Reset All Settings

If system settings were changed or corrupted during the update, this reset can undo it—without deleting your data.

Steps:

  • Go to Settings > General > Transfer or Reset iPhone > Reset.
  • Tap Reset All Settings.
  • Enter your passcode and confirm.

Your iPhone will reboot and default settings will be restored. Reconnect to Wi-Fi and test your screen.

4. Factory Reset Your iPhone

Still having ghost touches? It might be time for a full reset.

Before you start: Back up your data to iCloud or your computer.

To reset:

  • Go to Settings > General > Transfer or Reset iPhone > Erase All Content and Settings.
  • Enter your passcode and confirm.

Once the phone restarts, follow the setup prompts and test the screen before restoring your backup.

5. Restore from iTunes or Finder via Recovery Mode

This deeper method can help if the update corrupted core system files.

What you need:

  • A Mac or PC with iTunes (or Finder on macOS Catalina+)
  • A Lightning cable

Steps:

  1. Connect your iPhone to the computer.
  2. Quickly press and release Volume Up, then Volume Down.
  3. Press and hold the Side button until the recovery mode screen appears.
  4. On your computer, select Restore.

This will erase and reinstall iOS 13.2.3 using a fresh image. Restore your backup afterward if the issue is fixed.

Still Seeing Ghost Touches?

If ghost touch persists after all these steps:

  • Try a DFU mode restore (the deepest restore method).
  • Contact Apple Support for diagnostics—it could be a hardware issue (though rare for the iPhone 11 Pro).
  • If the bug is widespread, Apple may release a patch in the next iOS update.
