Need to use Apple’s Translate app when you’re not connected to the internet? You can download languages ahead of time and use them offline with ease. Here’s how to get new languages on your iPhone 14 for offline translation.
Download a New Language for Offline Translation
- Open the Settings app on your iPhone.
- Scroll down and tap Translate.
- Tap Downloaded Languages.
- Tap Download next to the language you want to add.
Once downloaded, it’ll appear under the Available Offline section and can be used anytime — even without an internet connection.
Remove a Downloaded Language
- Go to Settings > Translate > Downloaded Languages.
- Tap Edit in the upper-right corner.
- Tap the minus (–) icon next to the language you want to delete.
- Tap Delete, then Done to finish.
This will remove the language from your offline list and free up storage space.
A Few Tips for Using the Translate App
- Make sure your iPhone is running the latest iOS version to avoid any bugs when using the Translate app.
- If you’re having trouble downloading a language, check that your internet connection is stable — downloads won’t work without a connection.
- To use the app completely offline, turn on On-Device Mode under Settings > Translate and ensure the languages you need are already downloaded.
