The latest MacBook Air is usually sold in two configurations, a 256GB modal and a 512GB model. With this limited space it’s always a good idea to manage your storage space. If you are a photo or video editor then the best place to start is the Photos app where you will find your photos and videos. You should delete photos or videos you don’t use anymore to make room for your latest projects.

Deleting photos on mac
When working on several projects on your new MacBook Air you will soon find out that the disk space is running low. This is usually the case is you use the laptop to edit photos or videos. To free up your disk space you can choose the pictures and videos you want to delete .
Deleting pictures alone however will not increase your storage space. You need to permanently delete pictures or videos from your MacBook Air M1 in order to reclaim the disk space.
Basically, you will need to delete photos on mac twice. The first time deletes it form the photos library and sends it to the trash. Any file located in the trash will be stored for up to 30 days before they are automatically deleted.
You will need to delete photos from the trash manually in to have them permanently deleted from the system.
How do I delete photos from my MacBook Air?
You can delete photos using the Photos app of your MacBook Air.

Deleting photos
- Launch the Photos app.
You can find this in the Launchpad or your dock.
- Select Library.
This can be found on the left side of the window.
- Select All Photos tab.
This can be found on the top part of the Photos app.
- Select the photo you want to delete.
You can do this by clicking on it.
- You can also delete multiple pictures at once.
This can be done by holding Shift key then selecting a range of photos.
- Right click the selection then press delete.
This will send the selected photos to trash.
How do I permanently delete photos on my MacBook Air?
In order to permanently delete photos from mac you will need to delete them from the Recently deleted folder of the Photos app.
Launch the Photos app.
Select Recently deleted found on the left side of the app.
Select the photo you want to delete. You can do this by clicking on it.
You can also delete multiple photos. This can be done by holding Shift key then selecting a range of photos.
Right click the selection then select delete photo. This will permanently delete the selected items.
Recovering deleted pictures
If you accidentally deleted a photo or photos then there is still a way for you to recover them as long as they have not been deleted from trash.
Launch the Photos app.
Select Recently deleted found on the left side of the app.
Select the photo or photos you want to recover.
Click the recover button found on the top right of the window.
The selected photo or photos will move from trash to the library.
Take note that deleted photos from the trash can no longer be recovered.
Deleting all photos stored in iCloud using MacBook Air
If you want to free up your iCloud storage space then you should consider deleting photos form your iCloud account.
Click the Apple logo on your MacBook Air.
Click System Preferences.
Click Apple ID.
Select iCloud.
Click Manage.
Select Photos.
Click Turn Off and Delete.
