Swiping from the bottom of the screen, or in the case of the iPhone SE pressing the Home button, will immediately bring you the Home Screen. That’s already fast and easy enough. However, some users still find ways to make the usual tasks way easier.

That’s why you can find some videos online showing you that you can go back to the Home Screen with a double tap on the back of your iPhone. You’ve probably tried tapping your device’s back to no avail. It’s because you still have to set it up for it to work that way.
Don’t worry though, such a feature is already available in your device and it’s pretty easy to set up. Here’s how it’s done:
- Go back to the Home Screen and tap Settings.
At this point, you still have to swipe up from the bottom of the screen or press the Home button.
- Scroll down a bit and tap Accessibility.
This will show you a bunch of settings you can change and experiment on.
- Find and tap Touch.
It’s filed under the Physical And Motor section.
- Scroll down to find Back Tap and once found, tap on it.
You will have to scroll all the way down to find it.
- On the next screen, there will be a couple of options so tap Double Tap.
It actually depends on you if you want to use the double tap or the triple tap. But in this tutorial, let’s use the former.
- On the next screen, find and tap Home.
This will instruct your iPhone that once it senses that it’s tapped at the back in rapid succession, it will bring you back to the Home Screen.
- iOS 16
Once you’ve selected the option, double tap the back of your device again and it should work. You will be brought back to the Home Screen immediately and if you’re currently using an app, it will be minimized.
And that’s how you set up your device running iOS 16 to bring you back to the Home Screen with a simple tap (or double tap) at the back.
