How To Fix An Apple iPhone 12 Mini With No Sound After iOS 14.4

In this troubleshooting guide, we will show you how to fix an Apple iPhone 12 Mini that has no sound after updating to iOS 14.4. This issue can be just due to a pretty minor problem with the firmware. It can even be just a glitch. So continue reading to learn more about it and how to fix it.

When your iPhone doesn’t have audio, you may not be able to use it properly for phone calls or even for streaming videos. That seems to be the problem of some iPhone 12 users who reported that such a problem started after iOS 14.4. If you’re one of them, then you should spend a little time troubleshooting your device, because as long as it’s not a hardware issue, you will be able to fix it.

First solution: Make sure your iPhone is not set in Silent Mode

It is always possible that the Silent Mode on your iPhone was accidentally enabled because of the physical switch. Therefore, the first thing that you have to do is make sure it’s not muted or set in Silent Mode. Here’s how you do that:

  1. Flip the ringer switch.
  2. If it says that Silent Mode is enabled, then flip the switch back to disable it.
  3. After this, press the volume up to turn the volume to the maximum level. It’s best to turn the volume all the way up while you’re troubleshooting this problem.

If your iPhone still doesn’t sound off after this, then move on to the next solution.

Second solution: Force restart your iPhone

Perhaps it’s just due to a minor system glitch. That has been the case with some users. So the next thing you have to do is to perform the Forced Restart. It will refresh your iPhone’s memory and reload all its apps and services. Here’s how it’s done:

  1. Quickly press and release the Volume Up button, and then the Volume Down button.
  2. Immediately after that, press and hold the Power key for at least 8 seconds. This will trigger the device to shut down and power back up.
  3. Once the Apple logo shows on the screen, release the Power key and allow the device to continue the boot process.

After the restart, try to see if the problem is fixed. If it’s just due to a glitch, then this procedure should be enough to make your iPhone 12 Mini work perfectly again.

Third solution: Reset all the settings of your iPhone

At this point, if your iPhone 12 Mini still has no audio, then it’s possible that some of the settings were messed up. Since we don’t know if that’s the case or what settings were changed, then it’s best to just reset all the settings at once. This is one of the effective solutions in fixing software-related problems. Here’s how it’s done:

  1. From the Home screen, tap Settings.
  2. Find and tap General.
  3. Scroll down to the bottom of the screen, and then touch Reset.
  4. Touch Reset All Settings.
  5. If prompted, enter your security lock.
  6. Tap Reset All Settings at the bottom of the screen, and then tap Reset All Settings again to confirm.

Your iPhone will reboot after this, once it has finished rebooting, try to see if the audio is now working properly.

Fourth solution: Factory reset your iPhone

After doing the first three solutions and your device is still not having audio during calls or when playing music tracks and videos, then it’s time to do the factory reset. As long as it’s not a hardware issue, a reset will be able to fix it. However, before you do that, make sure to create a backup of your important files and data as they will be deleted. When ready, follow these steps to reset your device:

  1. From the Home screen, tap Settings.
  2. Find and tap General.
  3. Scroll down to the bottom of the screen, and then touch Reset.
  4. Tap Erase All Contents and Settings.
  5. Tap Erase Now.
  6. If prompted, enter your security lock.
  7. Tap Erase iPhone at the bottom of the screen.
  8. Tap Erase iPhone again to proceed.
  9. Now enter your Apple ID password, and then tap Erase to proceed with the reset.

Wait until your iPhone has finished the reset, and then set it up as a new device.

It should work perfectly now that the reset is finished. Otherwise, you have to bring it to the shop so that a technician can check for you.
