If your iPhone 12 Mini keeps dropping its signal out of nowhere, you’re not alone. While occasional signal loss is normal in areas with poor reception, frequent or random drops can be a sign of a minor software glitch—or something more serious.
Here’s what you can do to fix signal issues on your iPhone 12 Mini.
Check the Signal Indicator First
Before anything else, take a quick look at the signal bars on your iPhone.
- If you’re in a place with only 1 or 2 bars, it’s likely a coverage issue in that area.
- Move to a different spot—preferably outdoors or closer to a window—and see if the signal improves.
If your iPhone shows full bars but still drops the signal, then it’s likely a software-related problem. Keep going with the steps below.
Force Restart Your iPhone 12 Mini
This quick reboot helps clear out minor system glitches—including those that affect network services.
- Quickly press and release the Volume Up button.
- Quickly press and release the Volume Down button.
- Press and hold the Side button until the Apple logo appears.
After your phone boots back up, monitor the signal to see if it stabilizes.
Reset Network Settings
This will clear all saved Wi-Fi networks, Bluetooth devices, VPNs, and APNs—but it won’t delete personal data.
To reset network settings:
- Go to Settings > General > Transfer or Reset iPhone.
- Tap Reset, then choose Reset Network Settings.
- Enter your passcode if prompted, then confirm.
Your phone will restart automatically. Check if the signal problem is resolved.
Do a Factory Reset (If Needed)
Still having issues? A factory reset wipes your iPhone and clears out any deep software bugs that could be interfering with the signal.
Before you begin: Back up your important data to iCloud or a computer.
To factory reset:
- Go to Settings > General > Transfer or Reset iPhone.
- Tap Erase All Content and Settings.
- Tap Continue, enter your passcode and Apple ID when prompted.
- Confirm the reset.
Once your iPhone reboots, set it up as new (don’t restore from backup just yet) and check if the signal stays stable.
Call Your Carrier or Apple Support
If none of the above steps work, the issue might be:
- A problem with your SIM card or account — your carrier can verify and help.
- A hardware issue like a damaged antenna — in that case, Apple Support can run diagnostics or recommend a repair.
