Verizon has announced that it will offer a free year of Disney+ to 4G LTE and 5G subscribers of its Unlimited plan along with new customers of Verizon Fios Home Internet and 5G Home. Verizon mentions that this perk will go into effect on the 12th of November which is also when Disney+ makes its debut in the markets. This is an exciting perk to have for Verizon’s top tier customers, although we’ve seen something similar from other companies too.
Apple, for example, offers a free year of Apple TV+ starting November 1 to customers of the new Apple devices. This applies to any new iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, Apple TV, or Mac purchased after September 10, 2019. This means a large bundle of new iPhone/iPad buyers in 2023 will automatically get a family subscription for Apple TV+.
One area where Disney+ falls behind is with regards to hardware. Apple, on the other hand, has multiple devices where its customers can enjoy high-definition content in a beautifully designed app. However, the appeal of Disney+, as well as the quality of content, is far better than Apple’s at the moment. It is currently reported that Apple TV+ will have very few original shows on arrival, but will add more content every month. Apple has heavily hyped the arrival of “The Morning Show”, an Apple TV+ original series which will be available on Nov 1.
As of now, it’s hard to decide which service to choose. But if you happen to be a Verizon Unlimited customer who also bought an iPhone/iPad or Mac in the last month or so, you can enjoy both services at no cost.
