How To Turn On Heart Rate Notifications On Your Apple Watch Series 4

One of the most important feature with the Apple Watch Series 4 and all other Apple Watch models is its ability to look after your heart. These circles aren’t just circles for display, these are the sensors used to monitor your heart rate as this side of the watch comes in contact with your body. Two of the circles are Green and Infrared LEDs paired with the other two other sensors, the Photodiode. These sensors have the ability to detect the amount of blood and its flow rate through the wrist.

By Apple Watch default, the Elevated Heart Rate notification are off and can be manually set up and enabled with your wearable device. 

     1. Open the Watch app on your paired iPhone.

      2. Tap on the “My Watch”

3. Locate and tap on the Heart button, an icon that looks like a heart.

4. Select High Heart Rate and select a heart rate you considered to be high for you.

    Options are: :

  • 100 BPM
  • 110 BPM
  • 130 BPM
  • 140 BPM
  • 150 BPM

     Individuals  with no known heart conditions should select a threshold value between 100 BPM and 120 BPM. This varies according to age, fitness level or lifestyle whether or not they are smokers. 

  1. Select Low Heart Rate and select the heart rate which is considered to be low for you.

Options are: :

  • 40 BPM
  • 45 BPM
  • 50 BPM


 Again, Low Heart Rate varies with  age, fitness level or lifestyle whether or not they are smokers and with or without pre-existing heart conditions. 

  1. Close the Watch app.

Once the Apple watch detect a heart rate frequency above the selected threshold, especially if your in an inactive state for a period of 10 minutes, you will receive an alert of these changes. The Heart Rate app does not only records your heart rate frequency for a particular time, it  measures your rate heart throughout the day, my it be when you’re active or working out or even when you’re still. All these data can be found on the Health app on your iPhone.

Note:  Some may not be able to set up the Irregular Heart Rhythm Notifications in Health on your Apple watch as it may not be available in all regions.
