A new screenshot has revealed the imminent arrival of a dedicated Sleep app on the Apple Watch. The revelation was inadvertently made by the App Store Preview page of the Alarms app, with the screenshot reading “Set your bedtime and wake up in the Sleep app.” This is particularly interesting because wake up and bedtime alerts is a feature available on the iPhone in the form of Bedtime, but isn’t available for the Apple Watch yet.
While Apple didn’t give out any information on this new Sleep app during the recent Apple Watch announcement, it seems like the company was always planning to bring it at a later date. It is also worth noting that this is only a screenshot and barring what’s mentioned here, we haven’t yet seen the app in action yet. Keeping this in mind, we recommend taking this report with a grain of salt.
Given Apple’s work with Beddit, a sleep tracking company it acquired in 2017, a feature like this was always on the cards for the Apple Watch. For those unaware, Beddit provides sleep tracking solutions that go into your mattress and sync data with Apple HealthKit directly. Perhaps sleep tracking features on the Apple Watch will be an extension of this. We’ll wait for more details from Apple before jumping to conclusions.
