Rumor: All iOS 13 Running iPhones Will Be Compatible With iOS 14

As per a new report by a French site, Apple’s upcoming iOS 14 operating system will support the same devices as iOS 13. However, some iPads may fall out of favor as Apple looks to cut the number of compatible iPadOS devices.

The fact that iOS 14 will be compatible with every iOS 13 running iPhone (and iPod Touch) is reassuring for the customers, and may also indicate that there may not be major upgrades in store for the users. However, Apple is known to surprise the best of us, so it’s hard to speculate on any OS-related features right now.

Keeping the above information in mind, here are the iOS devices that the report claims will be compatible with iOS 14 this Fall.

  • iPhone 11
  • iPhone 11 Pro
  • iPhone 11 Pro Max
  • iPhone XS
  • iPhone XS Max
  • iPhone XR
  • iPhone X
  • iPhone 8
  • iPhone 8 Plus
  • iPhone 7
  • iPhone 7 Plus
  • iPhone 6s
  • iPhone 6s Plus
  • iPhone SE
  • iPod touch (7th generation)

There’s some bad news for customers of the iPad‌ mini 4 and the ‌iPad‌ Air 2 (2014) as per this report. The list of eligible iPads will be limited to:

  • 11-inch ‌iPad Pro‌ (2018)
  • 10.5-inch ‌iPad Pro‌
  • 9.7-inch ‌iPad Pro‌

We should expect to learn more about Apple’s iOS 14 operating system in June this year, which is when the company typically hosts its WWDC event showcasing new software and other products. Given that there’s still some time left for WWDC, we suggest taking this report with a pinch of salt. But considering Apple’s positive history with regards to updates, this wouldn’t be a surprise to many.
