There are reports currently doing the rounds which mention that Apple is gearing up to release its first 5G iPhone later this fall. This has also given rise to speculation that the company may launch an iPad or an iPad Pro model with 5G connectivity as well. A new report now adds more weight to it, claiming that a 5G toting iPad Pro is coming before the end of 2020. A separate report from earlier today mentioned that Apple will the mmWave 5G tech on its iPads and iPhones.
The report originated on Digitimes which cites industry sources for this report. It also mentions that Apple may choose to use one more antenna-in-package (AiP) module on the iPad Pro since it has more area compared to an iPhone. The reasoning for this is not known at this point, however.
Logically, since Apple will release 5G smartphones by the end of the year, it’s safe to assume that the iPad Pro with 5G capabilities may be released at around the same time. However, we recommend taking this report with a pinch of salt since there’s no confirmation of this yet. While one can say with a certain degree of certainty that at least one of the 2020 iPhones will have 5G on board, it’s too soon to positively say the same about an iPad Pro model.
In the near future, however, Apple would want to replace all its cellular variants with 5G. Networks around the world are expected to be significantly improved by then. Would you be interested in a 5G iPad Pro? Let us know in the comments below.
