Problem: Facebook logs out after a few seconds. i’ve tried all the recommended way to fix it but nothing has helped. i have iphone8+.

Solution: A problem like this can be caused by an app bug, coding issue, or some unknown software problem from third party sources. To fix the problem, follow the troubleshooting steps below.

Solution 1: Force quit

There may be a temporary bug that prevents Facebook app from working. Usually, these types of bugs are fixed easily by closing the app itself. Simply double-click the Home button to show your most recently used apps. Then, swipe right or left to find the app that you want to close. Finally, swipe up on the app’s preview to close it.

After a few seconds, tap to re-launch the app on your iPhone and see if it’s already working fine and stable. If not, then move on to the next solution.

It can also help to clear all your recent apps running in the background. Any of these background apps can crash at some point and if that happens other apps or system functions might as well be affected. To rule this out from the possible triggers, clear recent apps on your iPhone 8 with these steps:

  1. Press the Home button twice quickly to show a list of all your recently used apps.
  2. Swipe up on each app to close. Do the same with the rest of your background apps.

Solution 2: Soft reset your iPhone

While some problems may be caused by temporary app bugs, others may be due to temporary software bugs. To cover for the possibility of software bugs causing the problem, you can soft reset your phone to refresh the system and clear the RAM.

To perform a soft reset on your iPhone 8, just restart your device as you usually do. Press the Power button until the Slide to Power Off menu appears. Drag the slider to power off your device. Then after 30 seconds, press the Power button again until the device power cycles.

Alternatively, you can press and hold the Power and  Volume Down buttons simultaneously for about 10 to 20 seconds and then release both the buttons when the Apple logo appears.

Solution 3: Install app and iOS updates

Some bugs may only be fixed by installing updates. Facebook developer team is usually very active when it comes to finding bugs and releasing updates so you want to make sure that your Facebook is currently running the latest version. The same should be true for every other app in your device. Some poorly coded apps may interfere with an Operating System and cause problems. One way of minimizing bugs is to always keep them up-to-date.

When it comes to iOS updates, Apple almost always releases improvements and bug fixes regularly so this should not be a problem. Most iPhones are set to download iOS updates by default. However, if you change this behavior before, you can always manually check for new iOS updates from time to time.

Solution 4: Log out of your Facebook account

Some users were able to fix Facebook bugs before by logging out of the app. While we can’t say if this works for sure, it’s easy to do and won’t take that much time to do. You have nothing to lose if you do it while everything to gain if it works. Make sure to allow for a few seconds before logging back in.

Solution 5: Reinstall Facebook app

One of the most effective ways to fix app problems is by deleting, then reinstalling them. If your Facebook app is not part of the original software package, you should try to reinstall it to see if it works. Here’s how:

  1. Tap and hold on the Facebook icon or any app icon on the Home screen.
  2. When the icons start to jiggle, tap the X on the top corner of the Facebook app icon.
  3. Tap Delete to confirm action. The Facebook app will then be removed.
  4. To reinstall the app, head back to the App Store, search for the latest version of Facebook app for iOS, then download and install the new Facebook app on your device.

After the new Facebook app is installed, reboot your iPhone then launch Facebook and see if that fixes the problem.

Solution 6: Clear Facebook app data

In case the problem is caused by a bad app cache and data, you can use the steps below to clear them out.

  1. Tap Settings.
  2. Tap General.
  3. Tap iPhone Storage.
  4. At the bottom of the screen you’ll see your apps, arranged by the amount of storage they take up. Find Facebook app and tap it.
  5. Tap Delete App, confirm, then head to the App Store and re-download it. This will be a clean install without all the data and documents.

Solution 7: Reset network settings

The current Facebook issue may be linked to bad network setting or option. Try clearing your iPhone’s network settings to fix it. Here’s how:

  1. Tap Settings to open the app.
  2. Tap General.
  3. Tap Reset.
  4. Select the option to Reset Network Settings.
  5. If prompted, enter the device password.
  6. Confirm action.

Solution 8: Reset all settings

When you reset all settings on your iPhone, all customized settings are restored to default values. Personal data including sound settings, display settings, network settings, and other custom settings won’t be affected though. Follow these steps to reset all settings on your new iPhone:

  1. Tap Settings from the Home screen.
  2. Tap General.
  3. Tap Reset.
  4. Tap Reset All Settings.
  5. If prompted, enter the correct passcode for your device.
  6. Tap the option to Reset All Settings to confirm action.

Wait for a few minutes until the reset and reboot processes are finished.

Restoring your iPhone to default settings also helps in fixing device issues like random crashes, abnormal reboots, and apps freezing or lags.

Solution 9: Factory reset

A more drastic solution for this problem may be a complete phone wipe or factory reset. We don’t think any Facebook issue will demand a drastic solution as this but you should consider doing it if none of the options above fail.

Here’s how to master reset or factory reset your new iPhone 8 Plus:

  1. Tap Settings.
  2. Tap General.
  3. Tap Reset.
  4. Select the option to Erase All Content and Settings.
  5. If prompted, enter the correct passcode for your device to continue.
  6. Tap the option to confirm action.

Solution 10: Report the bug

If your Facebook issue continues even after a factory reset, you should consider reporting the issue to Facebook developer team. You can access their reporting tool within the app’s Settings menu.
