You may opt to take your chances and give any of these solutions a try on your end before contacting Apple Support or pay for service.

Step 1. Restart/force restart

Minor software glitches can occur anytime in any mobile devices including your iPhone. And often times, symptoms are resolved by performing a soft reset or restarting the iPhone. To restart your iPhone, just press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until you see the red slider. Drag the slider to Power off your iPhone completely. Wait for 30 seconds, and then turn your iPhone back on by pressing and holding the Sleep/Wake button until the Apple logo appears.

In the case where your iPhone is not responding and restarting is not an option, you can perform a force restart or hard reset your iPhone instead. To force your iPhone to restart, press and hold the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons simultaneously for at least 10 seconds until you see the Apple logo. Step 2. Charge your iPhone

To eliminate the possibility of insufficient charge, connect your iPhone to a power source and let it charge for a while.   • If you see the Apple logo, it means that you have held the buttons for too long and in this case you will need to start all over. Otherwise, continue to the next step.
  • Release the Sleep/Wake button but keep holding the Volume Down button for 5 more seconds. The Plug into iTunes screen will appear if you have held the button for too long. This means you need to start all over.

Your iPhone is in DFU mode if your iPhone screen remains black after releasing the Volume Down button at the specified period of time. At this point, you will see an iTunes message saying that it has detected your iPhone and will then attempt to restore iOS. Once iTunes is finished restoring iOS, try to power on your device.

Step 6. Contact Apple Support for further assistance

If none of these recommended solutions is able to fix the problem and you still end up having an iPhone 6s Plus that does not turn on or still stuck on black screen, I then suggest contacting Apple Support or your carrier’s customer care to escalate your device concern and request for other options and recommendations.
