How to Fix iPhone 6 Plus Sound Level Too Low, Sound Not Working

iPhone 6 Plus Sound Level Too Low

Problem: Hi, Since owning this phone I’ve been experiencing very low levels of sound coming from the headset speaker (the speaker you put against your ear, not the loudspeaker located near the mini jack input). When calling someone I can barely hear them, even when the volume is set to maximum. The loudspeaker works just fine, so do you think it’s a faulty speaker or perhaps a software issue? Do I invest the time/money in having a technician look at my phone, or is there something you can suggest? Any help will be appreciated. Cheers.

Solution: The first thing you need to do is to make sure that nothing is blocking the speaker. Does your phone have a case? Do you have a screen protector installed? If you do then try removing this as this usually blocks the volume.

Next, carefully inspect the speaker opening if there is a presence of dirt or debris. If necessary you should clean it using a can of compressed air. You can also use a soft bristled brush for cleaning.

You can also try to activate the hearing aid mode of your phone and see if this makes any difference. To do this go to Settings > General > Accessibility > Hearing Aids.

You should also restart your phone then check if the issue still occurs.

If the above troubleshooting steps fail to resolve the problem then you should have your phone checked at an authorized service center.

iPhone 6 Plus Call Can’t Be Heard

Problem: No one can hear me when I call them unless I’m on speaker.

Solution: Check and make sure that nothing is connected to the headset jack of your phone. If you see the headphone icon on the screen even if there is no headphone connected then this may be causing the problem. Resolve this issue first by inserting and removing a pair of headphones repeatedly in the headset jack. You can also try to restart or reset your phone if the headphone icon is stuck.

Check the headset jack for any signs of dirt or debris. If necessary clean this using a can of compressed air.

Another factor that can cause this problem is if the Bluetooth feature of your phone is turned on and your phone is connected to a Bluetooth speaker. Turn off the Bluetooth of your device then check if the problem disappears.

If the problem still persists then I suggest you backup your phone data and restore your phone as a new device.

If the above troubleshooting steps fail then bring your phone to an authorized service center and have it checked.

  1. I used toothbrush, and it works like wonders. I was just going to service center even though my warranty is gone as it was a major problem of low hearing from rhe reciever box.

But after brushing it off with toohtbrush the dust instantly came out and when I called someone, it was like 80 times louder. Thanks for the suggestion mate. 🙂

  2. I took a thumb tact and punctured a small hole in the very top right of the speaker where you place your ear and now I can suddenly hear perfect—- I mean like 100 times louder
