Connectivity issues are common even to iPhone users, but they’re not really that serious. Most of the time, you can fix them by restarting your device. However, there are times when they’re a bit complicated, that’s why you need to troubleshoot your phone. With that being said, here’s what you should do:

First solution: Make sure you’re connected to a correct network

The first thing you have to check is the network your iPhone is getting its connection from. It’s possible that it automatically connected to a known network in range.

Just launch Settings and tap Wi-Fi to see the name of the network it’s connected to.

If it’s connected to your own network, then move on to the next solution.

Second solution: Disable Wi-Fi and re-enable it

The next thing you need to do is to refresh the connection. It’s one of the easiest solutions to fix issues like this, but it’s pretty effective.

  1. To do it, launch Settings and then tap Wi-Fi.
  2. Tap the switch to disable it.
  3. After a few seconds, tap the switch again to enable Wi-Fi.

Wait for your iPhone to reconnect to the network and see if the problem is fixed.

Third solution: Force restart your iPhone

After refreshing the connection and your iPhone 12 is still having a very slow internet connection, it’s time that you refreshed its memory, as well as reload all its applications and services. You can do so by doing the Forced restart. Here’s how you do it:

  1. Quickly press and release the volume up button and then the Volume down button.
  2. Immediately after that, press and hold the Power key for 10 seconds. This will trigger your device to shut down and power back up.
  3. Once the logo shows, release the Power key and wait until it’s finished.

After the restart, try doing a speed test to see if the connection improved.

Fourth solution: Restart your network device

If the forced restart failed to make your internet connection faster, then it’s time to refresh your network device as well. It’s possible that your router has an issue, but most of the time, you can fix it by restarting it. This is how you do that:

  1. Unplug the router from the wall outlet, or simply disconnect the power cord from the main unit.
  2. Leave it without power for a minute or two.
  3. After that, plug it back into the outlet, or reconnect the power cord.
  4. Wait for the device to broadcast the signal and then let your iPhone 12 reconnect to it.

With the network refreshed on both your phone and router, the problem should be fixed. If not, then move on to the next solution.

Fifth solution: Reset the network settings

Assuming your other devices can connect to the same network without having the same problem, then it’s time you reset the network settings of your iPhone 12. This will bring all network services back to their default configuration. If it’s just a minor network-related problem, then resetting the network settings will fix it. Here’s how it’s done:

  1. From the Home screen, tap Settings.
  2. Tap General.
  3. Scroll down to the bottom of the screen, and then touch Reset.
  4. Touch Reset Network Settings.
  5. If prompted, enter your security lock.
  6. Tap Reset Network Settings at the bottom of the screen.

Your iPhone will reboot after this, once it has finished rebooting, try to see if the problem is fixed.

Sixth solution: Factory reset your iPhone

The next thing you have to do is all else fails is the factory reset. If it’s just a firmware-related problem that affected the network services, then this procedure will fix it. However, make sure to back up your important files and data before doing it.

When ready, follow these steps to reset your iPhone:

  1. From the Home screen, tap Settings.
  2. Find and tap General.
  3. Scroll down to the bottom of the screen, and then touch Reset.
  4. Tap Erase All Contents and Settings.
  5. Tap Erase Now.
  6. If prompted, enter your security lock.
  7. Tap Erase iPhone at the bottom of the screen.
  8. Tap Erase iPhone again to proceed.
  9. Now enter your Apple ID password, and then tap Erase to proceed with the reset.
  10. Wait until your iPhone has finished the reset, and then set it up as a new device.

If your iPhone 12 still has a very slow connection after the reset, then have it checked. However, if your other devices also have the same issue, then call your Internet Service Provider and have your router checked or replaced.
