If your Apple iPad Pro no longer powers on, there are always three possibilities; the battery might have been drained, the firmware may have crashed or it could be an issue with the hardware. The best thing you can do about this problem is to rule out the first two possibilities because after doing that and the device is still not turning on, then it’s always the job of the technician to check it up and see if it really is a hardware problem.
In this post, I will walk you through in troubleshooting your iPad Pro that would no longer power up. Please take note that this problem is different than when the device is simply not booting up. When it’s not turning on, it means there’s no power and the table won’t respond no matter what you do but if it’s the latter, then the device can still power up or still has power but it won’t load completely to the home screen and that would be a different problem.
Continue reading as I will share with you the most effective solutions when an iPad won’t turn on.
When your ipad won’t turn on, Force restart for it might be just a firmware crash
The first thing we need to deal with is the fact that the majority of problems like this, wherein the device won’t turn on and not responding, is just because of a firmware crash. When it happens, your tablet would no longer respond to the normal reboot procedure and since it has a non-removable battery, you can’t just take the back cover off and pull it out. Still, the most effective solution for this problem is to refresh the memory and to do that here’s what you have to do:
Step 1. Press and quickly release the Volume Up button.
Step 2. Press and quickly release the Volume Down button.
Step 3. Then press and hold the Power button until the device restarts.
Most of the time this will make the phone or tablet respond as long as it’s done correctly. So, if doing it for the first time doesn’t fix the problem, try doing it a few more times just to make sure it’s done properly. However, if the iPad is still not responding after this, then move on to the next procedure.
If still, your iPad won’t turn on, Charge it and see if it responds to it
Now, it’s time to rule out the possibility that your iPad Pro has just completely drained its battery that’s why it would no longer power on. The good thing about Apple devices is that they will be powered up automatically once the system detects there’s sufficient battery so if it would respond to its charger, then that’s the end of the problem.
Step 1. Plug in your device and let it charge for up to one hour.
Step 2. After a few minutes, you should see the charging screen.
Step 3. If you don’t see the charging screen within an hour, or you see the connect to power screen, check the jack, USB cable, and power adapter.
- Make sure that everything is plugged in firmly, free of debris, and not damaged. You might want to try a different USB cable or power adapter.
Step 4. Also, while it’s connected to its charger, press and quickly release the Volume Up button.
- Press and quickly release the Volume Down button and then press and hold the Power button until the device restarts.
If your iPad Pro is still not powering up after doing this, then it might really be a problem with the hardware. So, at this point, it’s better to book a reservation so you can bring it in and have a technician check it for you.
