How To Fix The Apple iPhone 5S Can’t Send Text Messages Issue

Before doing any of the recommended troubleshooting steps listed below you should first make sure  that the phone is running on the latest software version. If an update is available then I suggest that you install it first on your device as this will minimize the possibility of the problem being caused by an outdated software version.

1. Verify that your area has a good network signal

There are certain areas where your carrier will not have any signal. When you are in this area your phone will usually not be able to send or receive any text messages. To verify if this is a coverage related issue you can check if other devices under the same network are also having the same problem in your immediate vicinity.

If you are in an area that is known to have an excellent network coverage but your phone is not getting any signal at all then there’s a possibility that the problem is caused by a network outage. You should contact your carrier to verify if there is an outage and if there is none then proceed with the additional troubleshooting steps listed below.

2. Disable and re-enable iMessage

There are instances when a glitch in the iMessage feature can prevent your phone from sending a text message. If this is what’s causing the problem you will have to toggle the iMessage switch of the phone.

  • Go to Settings.
