How to troubleshoot iPhone SE with Netflix app that keeps crashing
Before you troubleshoot the app, check and ensure that your device is connected to the Internet and is not experiencing network connectivity issues like slow browsing, intermittent network connection, or no connectivity at all. Otherwise, you will need to deal with network problems first. If there is no problem with the Internet and the app is still crashing or not working, then you can go ahead and attempt to resolve the issue with any of these highlighted workarounds.
First solution: Quit the app then restart your iPhone SE.
Apps can become rogue when a new software is implemented. Symptoms can be minor but sometimes more complex that could not be remedied by simple solutions. As first possible solution, quit the errant app (Netflix) and force close any other background apps. Any of these background apps can affect other apps especially when they crash or get corrupted. So you have to rule that out too. Here’s what you should do first:
- Press the Home button twice quickly. Doing so will show up a list of recently used apps. These apps aren’t closed and so, they’re still running in the background.
- Find the Netflix app from the app’s preview and then swipe up on it.

It also does not affect any data saved in the internal memory, hence no need for backups.

Second solution: Refresh Wi-Fi internet connection on your iPhone SE.
Sometimes, network connection would glitch after system changes are implemented. The Wi-Fi status may show Connected but your device doesn’t actually have Internet access. To clear any minor Internet glitches that might have caused errors to the Netflix app, disable Wi-Fi on your iPhone SE for a few seconds and then enable it back.
- To do so, navigate to Settings-> Wi-Fi menu, then tap the Wi-Fi switch turn the feature off. After a few seconds, tap the switch again to turn Wi-Fi back on.
Reconnect to the Internet then launch Netflix app again to see if it is already working fine and steady.
Third solution: Update Netflix and other apps (if applicable).
Apps often require updates whenever a new software is installed. This is to keep the compatible and able to work with the current platform. If you haven’t configured your device to install updates automatically, then you need to manually check for and install pending updates for your apps including Netflix. Here’s how:
- Tap the App Store icon from the Home screen. Doing so will route you to the App Store main screen.
- Navigate to the bottom right of the screen and then tap the Updates icon. A new screen containing a list of apps with pending updates will then show up.
- Find Netflix from the list then tap the Update button next to it.
- If you see multiple applications with pending updates, tap the Update All button instead. Doing so will update all apps simultaneously.
Also check and see if the iOS 11.4 update is already available on your iPhone SE. This might contained a fix patch to address certain errors inflicted by the prior update.
To check for new iOS update on your iPhone SE, navigate to Settings-> General-> Software update menu. You should see a notification if an OTA update is available. An active Internet connection is required to check for over-the-air (OTA) updates.
If the iOS 11.4 update is already up for grabs, follow read the update details and requirements then follow the onscreen instructions to download and install the new firmware. Don’t forget to restart/soft reset your device afterwards to ensure all software changes are properly implemented.
Fourth solution: Reset all settings on your iPhone SE.
There are instances when an app suddenly stops working after an update because some settings are automatically altered and ended up causing conflicts with certain app settings. To rule this out, try to reset all settings on your iPhone SE then configure them again according to your previous preferences. Here’s how:

- Tap and hold on any app icon from the Home screen.
