Fixing The iPhone 6 Plus No Sound Issue

Problem: I use youtubekids app a lot for my granddaughter.  Today the sound on this app stopped working.  I also notice the sound is not working on other apps also.  I can still use the phone and it still rings when a call comes in.  Please advise. Thanks.

Solution: The first thing you need to check in this case is if the volume of the phone is set to maximum. While using an app press on the volume up hardware key to increase the volume.

Another setting that needs to be checked is the ring/ silent switch on the left side of your phone. While running an app try to flip the switch and see if the sound works.

Other troubleshooting steps that you can try if the above steps fail are listed below.

  • Make sure nothing is connected on the audio port of your phone or on its charging port
  • Check the audio port and charging port for any signs of dirt or debris. Clean if necessary using a can of compressed air.
  • Turn off the Bluetooth service of your phone.
  • Restart your phone
  • Get the latest iOS software update
  • Backup your phone then restore your phone to its original factory condition and set it up as a new device
  • If the issue persists you need to contact Apple Support.

iPhone 6 Plus No Sound When At Home

Problem: Got a fun one…yesterday my sound started going nuts. I get ringtone for calls, but no notifications, music, suri. Turned off/on all that fun stuff. As I was standing in line at Sprint playing with it, it all came back on. Yea! Came home, nothing…walked outside in front yard, back on! Came inside, nope went off three times as I walked in the door.. Turned the WiFi off thinking that was the issue with being inside. Nope. Still won’t work inside the house, but fine outside. Help!

Solution: Your phone may be connecting to a Bluetooth speaker inside your home. Since the range of a Bluetooth connection is typically 10 meters which means that when inside your home the sound will be routed to the Bluetooth speaker while if you are outside its range then the sound goes back to your phone. Try turning off your phone’s Bluetooth connection and see if this fixes the problem.

  1. What’s the point in this tutorial? You literally copy and pasted the same thing that literally every other site has, and it’s not really helping anyone.

  2. No sound on Bose soudlink Bluetooth say connected tried turning off Bluetooth repairing hard And soft rebooting and still no sound.

  3. Ive been having a persistent problem with my iphone 6sPlus.
I take public transportation and therefore use earbuds to listen to music whilst commuting.
It happens about 3 plus songs in, and it goes silent. Ive tried changing the settings to Airplane mode and it will work for a song, but then the same problem.
Ive turned airplane mode on and off, unplugging the earbuds, shutting down the phone, and restarting to no avail.

  4. Here’s the simple fix when you have no sound while playing videos. No one has told the simple solution If you check the volume when you using the phone normally and it is loud and the phone rings, the notification will say “ringer.” However, when you play a video but there is no sound. Something they don’t tell you. You have to check the volume key when you are in the video. Then the notification will be “volume.” Such an easy fix.

  5. I also have this problem with my iPhone 6plus; no sound on Siri, videos and music. All other sounds work. On my iPhone 5, I had a similar problem that turned out to be debris in the charge/docking port. I’ve checked all of the usual suspects this time, but nothing found.
