Final Design Of GameStick Controller Revealed

The Kickstarter campaign funded GameStick game controller has reached its final product design as the campaign’s final date is reached. GameStick has received tremendous response from people, which is made clear by the amount contributed. The original target of $100,000 had been exceed 5 times over at the time of this writing. The game controller itself has received some design changes since its inception, based on inputs provided by the community.

“It’s hard to believe that we launched GameStick just a few short weeks ago. The Kickstarter campaign has been a roller coaster of a ride and one which has given us more feedback than we could ever have possibly imagined.” says PlayJam’s CMO, Anthony Johnson, “We have been able to take that input and literally better shape our product to give our backers a truly bespoke creation – one which has been designed by the Kickstarter community that backed it.”

The controller itself, which at first had a right angled design overall, has now been given a more ergonomic, tapered design, to fit the hands better. The design now features a slightly extended shell to act as a grip. Other changes to the controller include the shifting of the housing of the console stick to the rear of the controller, while the stick itself will now support expandable memory up to 32GB in the form of microSD card. All in response to community demands.

Furthermore, GameStick has revealed a previously undisclosed docking station for the controller. Apart from providing wireless charging capabilities to the controller this dock will provide additional connectivity options in the form of HDMI ports and USB ports and will enable users to connect additional peripherals such as keyboards, mice, microphones, cameras and even more storage. This will effectively increase total storage capability of the GameStick controller to an impressive 104GB.

“The GameStick Dock is a prime example of how we have moved rapidly to innovate while still in the pre-production phase,” continued Johnson, “it has made for a ‘hairy’ 30 days but we think the results are worth it and we are delighted that we have been able to tailor the product as much as we have in such a short time-frame.”
