Problem: How to enable landscape mode when broadcasting Facebook Live on iPhone 8 Plus
I am attempting to do Facebook Live with my iPhone 8 Plus and having a challenge with being able to have my videos show right side up (I am sideways). I have searched for a solution and it seems like you can set the phone to landscape while in Facebook before you start the live video and that should work. However, I cannot get to any setting that will allow me to do this. I have the lock off for portrait, I have the Standard, not the Zoom for display yet I cannot seem to make FB go landscape. Do you have any thoughts on this? Thank you.
Solution: Facebook has already rolled out a patch to allow landscape mode to work while broadcasting on Facebook Live a couple years back, if we’re not mistaken. While there’s no in-app setting to set Facebook Live orientation to landscape, there’s an easy trick to do just that. Here’s how:
- Before you open Facebook app, make sure that your iPhone 8 Plus is already set to landscape orientation. Again, you want to put your iPhone to landscape mode before opening the app.
- Open Facebook app.
- Hit the Facebook Live button and start your broadcast.
Once you’ve started your Facebook Live broadcast, you won’t be able to change the orientation to a different one. You must stop the current task so you can switch to portrait mode again.
