With AirDrop enabled, you can instantly share and receive files with/from everyone or anyone in your contacts with Apple devices nearby. To make wireless file-sharing possible, your iPhone must likewise be discoverable in AirDrop.

How does AirDrop File-Sharing work?

Now that you’ve already enabled AirDrop on your iPhone 14, you should be all set to share files using it.

To do so, simply open the file that you’d like to share then tap the Share icon. Tap Share to view all file-sharing methods then select AirDrop from the given options. Tap the AirDrop file sharing icon in the row of share options then select the profile picture of the nearby AirDrop user that you’d like to share the selected file with.

If the person you’d like to share a file with does not appear among other nearby AirDrop users, he/she may have to allow AirDrop to receive items on his/her Apple device. This denotes the need for them to be discoverable in AirDrop.

Which devices are qualified to use AirDrop?

In order to use AirDrop, your devices must be running on iOS 7, iPadOS 13, OS X 10.10 or later versions. That’s the main requisite for AirDrop to work as intended.

Aside from the operating system requirements, you also need to be signed in with your Apple ID to use AirDrop.

One key advantage of using AirDrop over other wireless file-sharing methods is security given that shared files are encrypted.

Aside from photos, you can also AirDrop other files like a text from Notes, a website, playlists, contact information, pinned locations in Apple Maps and more.

And that’s how to activate the new iPhone 14’s AirDrop feature.
